Batman v Superman IMAX

We'll likely hear more about this in the next few days, but it seems Zack Snyder and Warner Bros are on the verge of announcing a big IMAX event being planned for this coming Monday, April 20th. We've already posted about the rumor that the first tease of Zack Snyder's highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice footage will hit tomorrow, just before the new Star Wars trailer, and that means the full trailer will follow - and will also show with Mad Max: Fury Road. But in the meantime, there's word that apparently Warner Bros is coordinating IMAX events to show footage from Batman v Superman in theaters on the big screen. It sounds like they might be pulling out all the stops, and showing fans some of the footage they've been waiting for - more than just the trailer. And now the details on theaters have surfaced.

UPDATE: Here's a tease of the forthcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer:

Tickets are available in limited IMAX theaters around the US, and you can get free passes right here.

Until we know exactly what's going on, here's the latest. Variety posted a story on Wednesday afternoon reporting that "Imax will debut Warner Bros.' first full-length trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next Monday in some of its theaters, sources confirm." So it is happening. They added this bit as well: "The Celebration Cinema theater in Grand Rapids, Mich., disclosed the April 20 event as 'Batman vs Superman Imax Trailer Event.' The running time is 15 minutes." All of this info has since been removed from the Celebration Cinema site, along with the supposed listings at Regal Cinemas. Our friends at Collider have also confirmed the details regarding the IMAX event, adding: "We're hearing that it will only be held in about 100 theaters or so across the country, so this will be a fairly limited engagement." Still, it'll be epic.

Stay tuned for more updates. As always, follow both @WBPictures and @BatmanvSuperman for the latest.

I like how announcements for teasers has become so big recently. Ad agencies are clever bastards.

If it's playing at the Imax theater 10 minutes from me then am definitely in. I love when studios do these type of big promotional events. Hopefully there is something good to grab. I remember getting a free t-shirt when they did the Imax promo for The Dark Knight Rises but am hoping to get a poster like Marvel did with Guardians of The Galaxy.

Well the menu says select State or Province so I'm hoping they add Canada soon. I'd be surprised if the IMAX theaters around Toronto don't show it. Hopefully it's more of an event than the Star Wars trailer premiere where it released online on the same day.

Yep! Loud and noisy like I said before!

A tease of a tease of a longer tease. This is just so stupid.

Still more excited for anything and everything Marvel has to offer....

Stop whining about a tease of tease to a teaser. It took 21 secs from your life and you should know better by now... Now pay attention to that batsuit and how friggin awesome and rugged it looks!!!

ProjectionistHP on Apr 16, 2015

Based on this trailer, the plot seems a little thin.

I hope they release it online fairly quickly so that most people dont have to see it in potato quality for the first time.

Al Apone on Apr 16, 2015

It looked like a mix of dark knight trilogy and 300, without color. Dark as hell, total flipside to Marvel. It's good that these two companies are bringing superheros to life in totally different ways to each other.

ProjectionistHP on Apr 17, 2015

Just seen the leaked version and it wasn't that bad, but also not that mindblowing! A Zack Snyder touch, bombastic, testosterone suits and strong images...
