'Interstellar' Returning to IMAX for One Showing Only on Saturday

February 16, 2015

If the current offering of big screen titles just isn't tickling your fancy (you should be seeing Kingsman: The Secret Service), then maybe one of the more divisive but extensively talked about titles from 2014 coming back to theaters briefly will get you out of the house. Today, Paramount Pictures has announced that Interstellar, the latest film from director Christopher Nolan, will be returning to select IMAX screens at participating AMC Theatres this weekend. However, the film will only be playing for one showtime and only on Saturday, February 21st. But there will be 12 minutes of unseen behind the scenes footage.

In addition, to make this IMAX experience a little cheaper, tickets will be buy one, get one free for this special encore of Interstellar will also get a free ticket. It's an interesting move by Paramount Pictures, especially since the film is only nominated for technical awards like Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing as well as Best Original Score at the 87th Academy Awards. But if you haven't experienced Interstellar on the IMAX yet, the best format to experience the film, then you really must partake. Just make sure it's not one of those dinky, small IMAX screens. To find out where Interstellar will be playing, check out the full list of participating theaters here. Cool?

I did see it a few weeks ago and I was very impressed by it! I found it a beautiful movie with the right pacing and great special effects... For me the best movie of 2014 by far, followed by fury...

Not sure why this movie is hyped so much. I honestly thought it was awful and had pretty high hopes for it going in.

One of the absolute best of 2014. I'm seriously thinking about doing this.

This movie is not worth seeing in IMAX or a movie theater imo. It is so slow 3 hour film that it is better watched in the comfort of your own home after you've exhausted all other options. And even then you should think twice.

Woot! I will wait for it to come to video before I rewatch it. But damn...after seeing it twice in theatres some months ago, I really feel I may to watch it again.
