After helping Disney bring The Muppets back to the big screen a few years ago, Jason Segel is going to help Warner Bros. keep building on their expanding roster of films inspired by The LEGO Movie. There's already a full-fledged sequel on the way in 2018, not to mention spin-offs for Ninjago in 2016 and LEGO Batman in 2017 and now THR reports the studio is developing a new spin-off called The Billion Brick Race. Segel will co-write the script with Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce, and the two will also make their debut as co-directors on the spin-off film that will be produced by the LEGO Movie universe brain trust of Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Dan Lin and Roy Lee. So what's this new one going to be about? Read on!
Unfortunately, the plot details haven't been revealed, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was a film akin to It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Fast & Furious or Cannonball Run (or "Wacky Races" if you will), but set in the world of LEGO bricks. After all, we've seen the kind of cool vehicles and contraptions that were created for The LEGO Movie, so an entire film focusing on a big race with LEGO cars would be pretty cool. But we're just speculating for now. The film comes from an original idea by Pearce that the studio jumped to make happen. It's still early days on the project, and the studio already has plenty of LEGO flicks lined up, so we'll see how this one progresses.

Noice. I'd been missing Segel. He has been gone for a bit.

The End of the Tour where he plays David Foster Wallace is very good. He'll probably get Oscar buzz this year.
