Looking Back: A Tribute to the Hollywood Talents We Lost in 2014

Philip Seymour Hoffman / Robin Williams

While there's no denying that 2014 was a good year for great filmmaking, it was also a little bit harder than recent years as we lost some monstrous talents from the big screen. Philip Seymour Hoffman and Robin Williams both passed tragically and far too soon. The retired Bob Hoskins left this planet not long after he stepped away from acting, and Harold Ramis joined all the ghosts he busted 25 years ago. Though there will be tributes to those we lost at both the Golden Globes and Academy Awards coming up, we already have a fantastic tribute to some of the talents we lost last year who made cinema so wonderful.

Here's Immortalized in Film: A Tribute to Those We Lost in 2014 from JoBlo:

Much like the awards program "In Memoriam" features, this video doesn't just focus on the talent we saw in front of the camera, but also those who worked behind the scenes. Production designers like H.R. Giger (Alien), make-up and special effects artists like Dick Smith (The Exorcist) and directors like Mike Nichols (The Graduate). And let's not forget iconic stars of the past like Lauren Bacall, Mickey Rooney and James Garner, who all left us last year. There's bound to be some other lesser know producers and whatnot we'll see honored at the Golden Globes & Academy Awards, but it's a fine send-off. Rest in peace.

Lost, but forever captured on film. Not a bad way to become immortal...
