Margot Robbie Finds Herself at 'Dangerous Odds' in Gambling Drama
Ever since her breakthrough role in The Wolf of Wall Street, the stunning Margot Robbie has been landing some big roles. She next stars alongside Will Smith in the con romantic drama Focus, and she'll be part of Suicide Squad in the DC Comics universe at Warner Bros. Pictures. We'll have word on how Robbie fares in the indie sci-fi flick Z for Zachariah sometime soon, but in the meantime, The Wrap has word that the actress is attached to star in Dangerous Odds, a new project that Warner Bros. just picked up that will see her playing Marisa Lankester, a beautiful insider within the world of illegal sports betting. More below!
The film is based on Lankester's memoir of the same name, and will be adapted for the big screen by World Trade Center scribe Andrea Berloff, but there's no director involved yet. The life of Lankester is certainly an intriguing one as she launched the first offshore gambling empire, which had ties to the mob. From Los Angeles to Las Vegas to the Dominican Republic, she moved her business, but at its final destination, she found herself in a dangerous, corrupted world. Lankester was raped by a general in the secret police and even imprisoned. Sounds like this could be a role that lands Robbie an Oscar nomination. Stay tuned.
