Michael Douglas on the Hunt in First Trailer for 'Beyond the Reach'
This summer we'll see Michael Douglas in Marvel mode as he has a co-starring role in Ant-Man alongside Paul Rudd. But before then, Douglas is getting a little dark with a thriller called Beyond the Reach. In what is essentially a more campy adaptation of The Most Dangerous Game, the film follows an upscale loan shark who is taking in the Mojave Desert with a little hunt. But when his young guide (Jeremy Irvine) is surprising by his human-hunting game, he ends up being the next target, with nowhere to run but deeper into the scorching, dry wasteland. This looks like an awesome B-movie right on par with the first Taken.
Here's the first trailer for Jean-Baptiste Léonetti's Beyond the Reach, originally from Yahoo:
Beyond the Reach is directed by French filmmaker Jean-Baptiste Léonetti and written by Stephen Susco (The Grudge), based on the book Deathwatch by Robb White. A high-rolling corporate shark (Michael Douglas) and his impoverished young guide (Jeremy Irvine of War Horse) play the most dangerous game during a hunting trip in the Mojave Desert in this lean, mean cat-and-mouse thriller. Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions will release the film on VOD and in limited theaters on April 17th later this spring.

This actually looks pretty good!

Looks like Michael Douglas is playing one of the most annoying people on the planet. Even from watching the trailer I wanted to kill him.

Do mine eyes deceive me? At 0:28, they show Shiprock, which is a hell of a long way from the Mojave.

This movie was filmed in my backyard of Farmington, New Mexico and out near Shiprock. I don't expect everyone to know where that is, but it's NOT the Mojave! I got to meet Michael Douglas on the day they closed main street to land that helicopter, and that Mercedes truck looks just as cool up close as it does on screen (but they clearly dubbed in the engine sounds).

I'm interested! Also, grossed out by the sun-burnt bod... which is also why I'll watch it!
