"Black and blue. God vs man. Day vs night." Warner Bros has debuted the new full-length trailer for Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice following the debut during the Comic-Con 2015 panel. This time they don't hold back, giving us major glimpses of the battles and many of the new characters we're meeting. Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Ezra Miller, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane and Jeremy Irons all star. This looks really extraordinary, they're covering the complaints about Metropolis from Man of Steel, and introducing so much more. Move aside Marvel, I'm way more excited for DC's upcoming set of movies. Seriously, just watch this video right now. We are not worthy!
Here's the Comic-Con trailer for Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, via WB/DC:
Zack Snyder's sequel Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in the DC Comics Universe will bring back Henry Cavill as Superman and introduce Ben Affleck as Batman. Amy Adams, Laurence Fisburne and Diane Lane are all reprising their roles from Man of Steel, while more new additions include Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film. Jason Momoa will also appear as Aquaman and there have been rumblings of Ray Fisher as Cyborg. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters next spring, March 25th, 2016. At least they follow the proper narrative and don't ignore the stupid destruction they accomplished in MoS. I dont read the comic but how does a someone as just being human go against Superman? That Iron Man suit? I just don't see it.

But isn't that Lex's role? Like even with all the money what chance could he stand vs Superman. Man I miss the fun Reeves movies. Why is everything always so dark and depressing? Henry is trying and he's looking good but you just cannot beat Reeves. He will always be Superman to me.

Call any of the Marvelous screenwriters out there, I bet they can come up with a big plot hole and kill Superman and Batman at the same time. Except for Loki, he still appears in the end credits scene.

Read....... Wait what am i saying people don't read anymore. Watch "The Dark Knight Returns: Part 2" and you would see the purpose of the suit and get a explanation how a human can beat Superman.

why were you confused? No film iteration of Alfred Pennyworth has ever resembled his comic namesake. As long as the actor is older than the Bruce Wayne character and can speak with a believable english accent, why should his appearance cause confusion?

I have always maintained that Marvel will rule the cinematic comic universe and DC will dominate the television comic universe. I have my doubts with Snyder behind the helm again but if this trailer is any indication, this could be the epic DC film that we have deserved. And the criticism that Batman wouldn't last against Supes is getting annoying. We know that Bruce Wayne is supposed to possess one of the smartest and adaptive minds in the world. And maybe Supes doesn't want to kill Bats. Because he knows that he fights for a righteous cause and is just blinded by the Batman inner rage and loathing that we all know so well. I am just excited to see these heroes together onscreen.

Regardless of opinion, I don't think the massive popularity should sway you or anyone else from commenting or not. This is still the place for discussion and not a mass circle jerk, after all π That said, I can't speak for them but I assume big movies like this are probably still good career moves, even if the movies are about simple entertainment and not intellectual art, the merits of which I'm not sure could even be rationally discussed.
Neuromancer on Jul 11, 2015

You mean the movies were made by God, meaning Nolan? Oh well...
Nash on Jul 12, 2015
37
Exactly, that's how the fanboys see him. I Iike him in fact Memento is one of my favorites but the dude needs help making his 'good idea's better.
ff on Jul 12, 2015
38
I always am a bit confused by the word 'fanboys'. How can You defend yourself against that kind of acquisition? You very much like the work of a certain person, You explain about that, and then all of a sudden You are a 'fanboy'. And that appears to be the end of the debate. But anyway, Nolan is in my opinion one of the best movie directors of the past few decades. But I must admit that Interstellar disappointed me in a few ways. Overall an interesting movie but especially the end sequence was close to ridiculous. The Dark Knight Rises, good movie but could have been better. Memento? I know it's brilliant, but really need to have some patience with that movie.
Nash on Jul 12, 2015
39
I hear you. I think Nolan is a very interesting talent but his movies never quite live up to their own potential. He has great ideas but just cant quite 'get there'. Of course this is my opinion. I feel he's sort of in this phase that happens when you're good and people stop telling you no and only yes. It's happens to so many people including Lucas and Spielberg who are surrounded by yes men. "Sure that ending of Saving Private Ryan wheres he's grown up that will be great!" Uh, nope. I just feel like Nolan needs someone to take his script and make it real, cut the freaking cheese, change the crappy on-the-nose dialogue, and add a dash of originality outside of the story concept. He has great ideas, but that characters and dialogue are laughable. The reason Batman holds up so much better than others artists created those characters decades ago.
ff on Jul 12, 2015
40
It doesn't appear to be as simple as that to me. If we were talking the latest Adam Sandler product I would fully agree with You. But the all the Nolan versions of Batman dealed with themes like inner fears, the thin lines between good and bad, the things men are prepared to do when forced by evil, aging and decay, the position and reputation of law inforcement, etcetera. The Dark Night trilogy no doubt gave the audience many things to think about. As in almost any Noland movie.
Nash on Jul 12, 2015
41
Not to mention that, as long as there is passion with the creators (and Snyder, incompetent though he is, does seem to me to be passionate), working on a film like this could still be a pleasant experience. Especially in-between films closer to their heart.

43
I had my doubts about this movie, especially since they announced Wonder woman was going to be in too. Because they're introducing a 'new' Batman and a 'new' Lex Luther, I don't know how they would give enough time to develop each character. That said, this looks EPIC! Sad part is, like every Zack Snyder movie, the theatrical release often falls short of the Director's Cut. I just hope the theatrical release is still very good, because 'Man of steel' wasn't -- and Warner Bros. cannot afford to screw this up now!

Why does it sadden you? I believe that these movies are amazingly well crafted. Playing an imaginary character can be just as challenging as playing a character based on real people. It saddens me that this viewpoint reverberates throughout all of hollywood and is the very reason why these movies never do well come award season. RDJ, Chritian Bale, Heath Ledger, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen are just a few of the great actors who have used their crafts in these movies. Does popularity really have anything to do with how good a movie might be? The Dark Knight, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Winter Soldier, Days of Future Past are some fantastically well written movies.
TK on Jul 11, 2015
65
It isn't always about ego. It's about recognition for the work that people put into these movies. I like a wide variety of films and I wouldn't write an actor off because they happened to be in a movie that wasn't exactly to my liking. There have been many a movie that I thought was in a better position to win an award for best actor and director etc. and have been completely ruled out because of the same train of thought that you had. I couldn't really care less if the movies I like win awards. Remember I get nothing from that movie being awarded lol. The actors, directors, people behind the scenes and everyone who worked on that movie get the awards. How is it self-congratulatory? You don't give yourself the awards. They are chosen by your peers and audiences and so what if it feels good to get a congratulation every now so often. It shows that your work means something to someone. Movies that get awards doesn't directly correlate with making money.

I really enjoyed the cinematography and direction on 300 and Watchmen (both were very darkly drawn comics and the films did them justice). I can't really say the same for Sucker Punch. The soundtrack also annoyed me because they kept reusing that Bjork song that came out in 1998...

And again, you're clearing the things in the right direction. No, I wouldn't like big producers (or whoever in movie/entertainment industry) to define my idea of fun or good time ... That's partly why I said what I said since these movies are nothing serious and can be accepted as a fun,or one idea of it. But not as a definition of fun for me or anyone else ... I'm wondering if the Batman vs Superman fight has a twist to it? After watching the trailer there's a scene where Superman is kneeling before Luthor and he seems to be under his control, plus they get a hold of Zods dead body as well. Has Luthor actually cloned Superman? I remember in MOS when Superman was on the Kryptonian ship they were able to take a blood sample. Does Luthor Corp find some Kryptonian DNA by taking on the clean up job of the mess created by the world engine? He then creates a Bizzaro Superman which goes out of control commiting acts of atrocities which would turn the people and governments against the real Superman. They would then search for a way to kill him which would mean the fight we're seeing is actually Bizzaro Superman vs Batman? The real Superman then teams up with Batman & Wonder Woman to take the clone down and then the Justice League is born?

Think Doomsday, because to make a identical clone of something or someone don't you need their genetic material, ergo to clone superman he needs superman dna, but to create doomsday he just need kryptonian dna. So i think supes and bats just get into a fight and later just "hug it out", and lex is messing around with krypto dna and creates a super soldier aka DOOMSDAY.
bigmikeg 23 on Jul 16, 2015

Further on in my original post I did say that a blood sample was taken from Superman when he was on the Krytonian ship. So they would be able to clone him if they found it whilst combing through the wreckage.

No we can't agree. Marvel is light and comic in their movies. Where DC is dark and serious. It may very well both be comicbook movies, but they are not in the same ballgame in my opinion. Both of them are making awsome movies these days. But they are so far apart that i can't agree to crowning one king over the other, they occupy two different realms
Roxtaf on Jul 13, 2015
98
lol, DC has just started doing the "dark" thing. that's because Nolan did it well, and it only started with Nolan. Let's go watch Green Lantern and tell me how "dark and serious" it is. a dark and serious superman gave us a thinly veiled disaster movie. they're in the same ballgame...it's Marvel and DC for crying out loud - don't act like they aren't comparing themselves to each other and trying to one up. Marvel has been winning easily, simply because they know how to tell their stories in a relatively cohesive manner. DC is still learning how to create their own universe and keep it alive and growing with each movie. Hopefully they've learned how and they appear to be doing it. Superman was a poor movie...this looks to redeem that.

The footage looks pretty good, but the battle scenes look a little ridiculous, especially the shot with the CGI Batman dodging Superman's blast with the grappling hook (also, isn't Superman supposed to benevolent and not murderous?).... Wow "this" movie looks pretty good. But there's so much unfinished CGI scenes, it'll be more interesting to see when time draws near. Can't wait till the first Civil War trailer hits, then maybe we won't get a biased opinion by the writer "Move aside Marvel". This is one trailer for a movie that has a lot to live up to, whereas the other has a more impressive track record. The return of the black knight (parts 1 and 2) are great movies. The "old" nothing to lose batman is one of the best takes on batman I`ve ever seen, and the Batman vs superman showdown in part 2 has some great ideas. Id actually say Affleck is a bit too young for the part, but the mighty chin is close to the cartoon.. although Bruce Campbells chin would do nicer π . Lex Lutors play in this contra the black knight returns set up for the S vs B conflict is yet to be revealed, but I have my doubts. Assault on arkham asylum (suicide squad) and the black knights return will be the fall or stand awkwardly, but okey for the DC universe.
