Must Watch: David Ayer's 'Suicide Squad' Movie Comic-Con Teaser
by Alex Billington
July 13, 2015
Source: YouTube
And here we go… Warner Bros has suddenly released the Comic-Con sizzle reel teaser for David Ayer's Suicide Squad, after the footage leaked to the internet following its debut in Hall H. The studio released a statement saying: "Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed." It's awesome, and I'm glad they're doing this, but it also sucks that it was leaked. This looks dark and gritty and different than anything we've seen, but I am so excited for it. There's even a glimpse of Batman in this, along with all your favorite villains: Deadshot, Harley Quinn, The Joker, Enchantress, Killer Croc and Rick Flagg. Have at it.
Here's the Comic-Con teaser for David Ayer's Suicide Squad, direct from Warner Bros' YouTube:
Suicide Squad is a DC Comics movie from Warner Bros, directed by David Ayer (End of Watch, Sabotage, Fury) from a script by David Ayer based on the comic books. Will Smith is Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman is Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie is Harley Quinn, Jared Leto is Joker, Jai Courtney (Terminator: Genisys) plays Boomerang, Viola Davis plays Amanda Waller, Cara Delevingne (Anna Karenina) is Enchantress, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is supposedly playing Killer Croc. All of these characters are part of a super villain team recruited by the government for secret missions. Our friend El Mayimbe is also claiming that Ike Barinholtz is playing Dr. Hugo Strange, Adam Beach is possibly Ravan and Jim Parrack is playing Deathstroke. Warner Bros will release David Ayer's Suicide Squad everywhere starting August 5th, 2016.

It looks good. Hope it doesn't disappoint. Leto's Joker is growing on me... still not completely sold though. I know as an actor he will carry his weight, just gotta wait and see.

The scene with Batman, is that Affleck or will it just be a glimpse of him? I'm confused about his involvement.

Yeah , that's right Ryan ! Its Jason Todd's it looks like . The Robin after Dick Grayson . The Joker killed him ....until Ra's Al Ghul went looking for his corpse ,put him in the lazarus Pit and he became the anti-hero The Red Hood !

Well shit, I shouldn't have watched it on a small screen first. Didn't they see how dumb people thought it was? And how dumb it is? My opinion on the tattoos was always that if they had them, they should have looked backwards and upside down, like he did them to himself in the mirror or something. Or just not have a bunch of silly tattoos.

I agree. It looks more like a juggalo then Batman's arch nemesis criminal mastermind. In Ayers defense though he and Leto have some big shoes to fill so he took it a completely different route. I'm not 100% sold but I think Leto's acting can make it work.

Looks so good! Batman's villains are some of the best things in comics, can't get enough of them. Margot Robbie is the perfect Harley, I don't care about anything else. Viola Davis sounds like a great fit. Smith makes deadshot look a vulgar mercy (as vulgar as they come), but oh well. And Leto will be a freaking riot. Also, really well put together trailer, the music is perfect and they show just enough to get us pumped. DC is finally making the superhero movies I always wanted and I'm tired of the Marvel formula, can't wait for 2016 at the movies!
Ricardo_PT on Jul 13, 2015

You're tired of the Marvel formula...putting out really good and enjoyable movies for all ages? Yea, that sounds boring.
JBroti on Jul 13, 2015
29
I'm totally with you and pumped for the next 2 DC films, but to kinda insist the world would be better off if Marvel didn't exist and only DC films should is just. . . insane, only a crazy person would want that, taking your fanboyism too far, just TOOOO FAR MAAAAN!!!
BNN667 on Jul 14, 2015
30
I never said "the world would be better off if Marvel didn't exist", where in hell did you get that from my comments? Superhero movies wouldn't be what they are today without Marvel (Sam Raimi's spiderman and Iron man set all these pieces in motion). And Marvel constantly puts out entertaining flicks, but they're never amazing. I had a blast watching Iron Man and the Avengers, but that was it, Nolan's trilogy, for instance, is on another level. I want Marvel to shake things up, and their movies do show that there's a shared formula behind them, one that, in my eyes, is getting old. That being said, The Avengers is still better than MoS and I appreciate what Marvel has accomplished!

Cool enough teaser...but near the second half it started to feel like the Will Smith Margot Robbie show....could've just rolled the trailer for that busted broke film "Focus" from earlier this year that also starred the two ;(

This was better than expected. The best kind of surprise! The Joker will be good, Harley seems just right, and Viola Davis looks like she will kill it as Amanda Waller, although CCH Pounder would have been awesome too! // I really am ready to see this now~! Also, The Batman!!!~

Wooow....never thought i would say that...but...that looks good. Nice atmosphere. Very dark and hopeless. The only thing i don't like about the cast i Will Smith. Hahahahaha...what a ignorant opinion to bash on Marvel. They're two different properties going for two different tones. Which is a good thing. You don't want them being identical. And I don't recall the trailers for Marvel being cheesy, they just have more comedy, which is great because you get to experience laughter, thrills, and being blown away all in the same movie. Sorry that those movies speak for a wider audience, but it's the children of today that are going to become the massive fans we are, but of the movies (instead of the comics we grew up on). Or both. Plus...this could bomb and Marvel has a better track record. You can disagree but you're one person in a sea of people who look forward to Marvel movies.

Oh the irony.

I've been coming to this site for a long time and have seen you post a lot. Whenever it came to these two universes you've always favored Marvel and your arguments that have been against DC were always dumb and condescending. You have a childish personal vendetta against DC and will always come to these posts just to shit on them so yeah my reply to you "dumb" sums up everything you have to say.
Rock n Rollllll on Jul 13, 2015

I still like Marvel movies, but they are getting safer and less creative. They are taking away power from their directors to ensure that they stay safe and that is taking away creativity (must include jokes too). I enjoy reading darker comics in general and love more violent movies. DC is doing that so it is of great interest to my taste. If Marvel did the same for a movie, like Daredevil, I would also be interested. Right now it is looking like Marvel is for kids, and DC is for adults.

I still like Heath Ledger's Joker better. But...these are two different incarnations and I'm judging before the movie is released, so my opinion could change...but for now...Heath Ledger. I was hoping Killer Croc would look more crocodilian and larger. Almost like The Lizard in Amazing Spiderman, only a crocodile. Margot Robbie looks good as Harley, but I still wish she turned down the role and was asked to play Miss/Capt Marvel. Think she would've been more impressive in that role. I still have mixed feelings about this movie. Only time will tell.
JBroti on Jul 13, 2015
52
Oh you can tell that much about Joker with this little trailer huh?!?! Interesting. Wow I thought Croc looked amazing. Also this isn't Marvels PG-13 CGI. DC universe doesn't work that way so stop complaining about nothing. All your comments just feel biased. Oh and dumb too.
Rock n Rollllll on Jul 13, 2015
53
Well they are my comments/opinions. Don't like it...suck it. I don't care. I already said my opinion could change when the movie comes out involving Joker. I said there's still hope. Killer Croc looks cool but I was hoping he'd be more animal than man in appearances. Maybe that's just cause I work with alligators and crocodiles. Also, you're talking about Sony not Marvel, genius. Your reply feels whiny because I disagree with you. Oh and dumb too.

I don't see why anyone feels the need to be a jerk over the internet. "Marvel Boy" and juvenile terms like that are ridiculous. Damn, I'm pumped for this. Way moreso than Batman v. Superman, personally. I think I'm in the minority here, but I'm also actually really excited about Leto's sort of goth-rock/rap god joker here. Personally, I'm excited for pretty much any take on the Joker that is new and refreshing, like this one. At the end of the day, even if this joker sucks, i think this sort of treatment (which is pretty clearly a little more risky) is totally justified, because lets face it, 7 years ago we got the perfect joker. We have seen the pinnacle of that character's potential on screen for at least the next couple decades in Ledger's incarnation, and we don't need Jared Leto to try and match or one-up that performance. We already have the perfect Joker. I would much rather him try something new that may or may not work for people, but allows him to play with the character creatively, than try to do something in the vein of Nolan's Joker and inevitably come up short. that said, I think Leto will rock.

Affleck has a cameo. His main part happens at the end with The Joker in Arkham Asylum. Joker breaks out and Batman has to fight him somehow. Harley Quinn gets involved in a way hence, the scene you see in the trailer with Batman on her car.

Don't know if this has been suggested before, but could it be possible that Suicide Squad and Batman V Superman are basically one and the same movie, just told from different perspectives?
