Black Mass Trailer

"It's not what you do – it's when and where you do it…" Warner Bros has debuted a brand new trailer for Scott Cooper's new drama Black Mass, featuring Johnny Depp as Whitey Bulger – one of the most notorious, wanted, feared gangsters in US history. The first trailer we featured for this movie back in April was actually labeled a "first look" and this is the first official trailer, at least according to Warner Bros. We also get quick glimpses of Dakota Johnson and Benedict Cumberbatch in this trailer, along with Joel Edgerton and Adam Scott. I still want to see more footage, but this looks damn good already. Take a look.

Here's the full theatrical trailer for Scott Cooper's Black Mass, direct from Warner Bros:

You can still catch the first look trailer for Black Mass right here, released one month ago.

Black Mass is directed by Scott Cooper (Out of the Furnace, Crazy Heart) and written by Jez Butterworth (Edge of Tomorrow, Get on Up) and newcomer Mark Mallouk. In 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster James “Whitey” Bulger (Johnny Depp) to collaborate with the FBI and eliminate a common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the true story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement, consolidate power, and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history. Benedict Cumberbatch, Adam Scott and more star in the film. Warner Bros will release Black Mass in theaters September 18th this fall.

the soundtrack brought it down, but still a good trailer for what looks to be a possibly great flick.

I don't see how disliking modern hip hop in a trailer for a film about an Irish mobster in 1970's Boston makes me a troll.

Read his other comments, then You'll understand why it's a waste of time to read anything he says.

I'm sorry but the makeup job on Johnny Depp is TERRIBLE. One of the absolute worst I've seen on an actor since JGL in "Looper". Think I'm gonna have to pass on this unless the reviews are unbelievably good.

I agree Depp's makeup is horrible it look's like a mixture between an old Ray Liotta/Gollum. They should of just hired Ray Liotta so they could be half there...

Feels very much like a Scorsese film. Johnny Depp is doing an amazing impression of Ray Liotta.

Getting real good vibes from the trailers for this - from the footage they show and from the way they're edited to show very little. If Depp gets a lot of praise for this performance in this, I hope he takes more daring dramatic roles. Typically he does well when he's all made up and in costume. When he has none of that, he comes across as kinda bland, so this seems like a good half way point. Really looking forward to this. I'm loving this cast.

Just out of curiosity, is the make-up not distracting anyone else here?

No, he looks like the character.

I like the feel for the film that the "First Look" and this trailer have given off. That being said, it feels like this director's filmography is more performance based than it is story based. Crazy Heart=Jeff Bridges. Out of the Furnace=Christian Bale (and arguably most of the cast). Black Mass=???. I'm really looking forward to this but I have my reservations. Especially since 2015 has been a rather lackluster year (for me) in the theater.

I think it's that we're so used to *Johnny Depp* that this makeup looks just weird. I'm sure I'll forget about it when I watch the movie, but it just looks weird, man.

His makeup job looks like he is going to play Christopher Walken in a biopic. Gees.

Saw this last night. The acting was great, but the makeup was very distracting. If I can see the eye shadow that's supposed to create sunken eyes, there's a problem. Very remedial cinema makeup. Some random beauty vlogger on YouTube could've done a better job.

and what about the fake contacts that can not show the pupil expand and retract in the various lighting. looked terrible and fake. It distract from what might had been an interesting movie....
