Black Panther

Hooray! A big congratulations to Ryan Coogler. This is outstanding news. Multiple outlets are reporting with confirmation that Ryan Coogler, director of Creed and Fruitvale Station, is in talks to direct Marvel Studio's Black Panther movie. The superhero will be introduced in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War movie, and he can be seen in full costume in that trailer. From there he will get his own solo spin-off movie (likely the origin story) and Coogler is going to be directing. I'm definitely down for that. Chadwick Boseman stars as T'Challa, the rest of the cast has yet to be confirmed. We'll be watching for any updates.

There has been talk about a Black Panther movie for as long as I can remember, with rumors for years and years during the first phase of Marvel Studios movies. Now it's finally happening, as we've literally seen Black Panther in costume (see above). The release of the Ryan Coogler-directed Black Panther solo movie is currently set for February 2018, giving them two years to get this made. From here we'll have to watch to see who else they cast and how all this comes together. In the meantime, the best thing I can recommend is watching Ryan Coogler's previous films - go see Creed in theaters now, and check out Fruitvale Station, too.

Clear choice. You did good, Marvel.

it's clearly not going to be a typical "origin story" as he's already the Panther in Civil War. Marvel doesn't move backwards in time, they move forwards, so Black Panther will essentially by a sequel to Civil War as far as the character is concerned. same with the upcoming Spider-Man movie.

I'd love to see some flashback sequence with Dominic Cooper's Stark obtaining Vibranium from T'Chaka or MacClain. I'm also assuming/hoping we'll see some history with Serkis' Ulysses Klaue. Looking forward to the film for sure!

Fucking fantastic! I'm little surprised this went through... but man, this is great news for the film.

*sigh I really hope the decision process in deciding who was going to direct the next black panther movie wasn't based on meeting some social justice requisite. With that out of the way, I can't wait. Please don't make his character too campy. Ant-man felt like that. I get adding humor, but watching Ant-man felt odd. And the fight scene and acting when he fights Nighthawk was horrible. Also, is he going to stick with claws for nails or the wolverine type claws? Oh, and can you make the movie and have it ready by next year? Thanks! 🙂
