Ryan Gosling Rumored as Top Choice to Join 'Beauty and the Beast'

Ryan Gosling

Before any of you girls out there get too excited, let's just agree to take this news with a grain of salt. Tracking Board hasn't been too reliable when it comes to stories like this, but they're reporting that Ryan Gosling is the top choice to take the second title role in Disney's new live-action take on Beauty and the Beast. Just last month Harry Potter franchise actress Emma Watson was officially announced to take the female lead role as Belle in the classic tale, so casting for Beast shouldn't be too far behind. Of course, even if Gosling really is Disney's top choice, there's no guarantee the blockbuster-avoiding actor would take it.

Gosling has been sought after for plenty of high profile projects, but he's opted to stay mostly in smaller dramas without the razzle and dazzle of visual effects. Of course, if there's a film to make that will please his fanbase, it's hard to go wrong with Beauty and the Beast. At the same time, I'm not entirely sure he's perfect for the role. Honestly, I would rather see someone like Dan Stevens (The Guest, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb) or Sam Claflin (Catching Fire) in the role, but Disney probably wants a huge name. But I'm more interested as to who will play Gaston, because it should probably be Channing Tatum or Tom Hardy. Anyway, stay tuned to see how the rest of the casting turns out.

My dream picks would be Manu Bennett for Beast and Joe Manganiello for Gaston. Though that's not really likely, I can't say Gosling makes me particularly excited.

Since Gosling and Watson are both beautiful, which would play the beast?! I think making her the beast would be more interesting.
