Ryan Reynolds Teases 'Deadpool' Prototype Mask Behind the Scenes
by Ethan Anderton
February 12, 2015
Technically, we've already gotten a first look at the anticipated adaptation of the Marvel Comics character Deadpool that 20t Century Fox finally decided to bring to theaters next year. What really pushed production of the film forward was the excitement that resulted from the leaked test reel that featured Ryan Reynolds in the title role. Now the film is exactly one year away today, and Reynolds has teased the arrival of the Merc with a Mouth by posting a behind the scenes photo from the set of the film. It's not much, but we do see a prototype of the mask Reynolds will be wearing for part of the film. Or maybe that's just a mold of what it will look like, because there will probably be some visual effects used for his face too. Look now!
Here's the photo from the set of Deadpool from Ryan Reynolds on Twitter:

Deadpool is directed by visual effects veteran Tim Miller, making his feature directing debut, with a script from Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Ryan Reynolds reprises the titular character he originated in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a disfigured and mentally unstable mercenary known for his or his sarcastic, talkative nature and his tendency to break the fourth wall. The film has also been reported to include T.J. Miller ("Silicon Valley) and Ed Skein ("The Transporter"). Casting is still underway, but production is clearly happening as 20th Century Fox has set a release next year on February 16th, 2016.

I'm very interested in this movie, just because of the fact that Reynolds really seems to try to make this an awesome movie

As someone who knows the bare minimum about DP, I hope the humor is on point. Not just being 'random'.

The humor is always random with DP.

I guess so, but it's normally clever right? Instead of just walking up and going "I LIKE CHEESE!" like some dummy on tumblr or something?

Hey! I like cheese!

LMAO YOUR CRAZY! YOUR CRAZY!

It's usually appropriate, but there are a lot of inside jokes, like DP decapitating a henchman then expressing his love for tacos.

I sense disappointment in this movies future.

HOW? WHY? What has been release besides ONE PIC to tell you how this is going to be bad! STOP MAKING UP YOUR MIND BEFORE THERE IS EVEN A TRAILER!

Well, I have been watching movies for a long time, and sometimes I get feelings about movies very early in production and I have a good personal track record for being right. Its based off more than a picture, BTW. I could be wrong, I am sometimes. And when I am all it means is there is a good movie to watch.

Extremely skeptical about Reynolds....he doesn't have the greatest track record when it comes to comic book films....

Neither did Chris Evans and look how that turned out.

I like your optimism....I really hope they don't fuck up Deadpool

Personally Evans as J.Storm was the best part of those movies.

I think the problem with Green Lantern was that they wrote the role of Ryan Reynolds... NOT Hal Jordan. If that makes sense. As for this movie... I'm skeptical too... I'm just hoping they are not continuing or connecting it to the Deadpool from the Wolverine Origins movie. Cause that movie SUCKED.

I have faith in this movie. Reynolds needs this and i think he's gonna give it everything he's got. Hopefully fox doesn't fuck it up.

Caption pic makes me miss that epic fun Deadpool game for (sigh) last gen consoles. Got boring around 3rd run through, but I would LOVE A SEQUEL... please. Icing on the cake would be multiplayer: Deadpool Kills Deadpool.... everyones just a different version of deadpool. Ladypool, Dogpool, Kid Deadpool... add in customizable outfits for: Taco Venorpool, Retieredpool, Fatpool, Lannisterpool, Superpool, Khal Dragopool, Hobbitpool, Alex Billingpool, Ethan Anderpool... and Akirakorpool of course! SKITTLES!

So is this movie going to be separate from Wolverine' Origins? I'm hoping so.

Let's not get too excited. They still can screw this up.
