After scouring Hollywood for young talent, director Bryan Singer has finally found the stars who will play the younger versions of the familiar mutants Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse, the next installment of the comic book franchise. Singer took to Twitter to make his casting announcement, revealing that "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner will play Jean Grey, Mud star Tye Sheridan is Cyclops and Drumline: A New Beat star Alexandra Shipp has landed the role of Storm. We're getting a little bit closer to the original X-Men line-up from back in 2000, but these are still very young versions.
Here's the casting update from Bryan Singer himself on Twitter:

And here's Sophie Turner's adorable reaction on Twitter as well:

Sheridan beat out some other impressive talent like Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) and Jamie Blackley (If I Stay) while Turner was up against the likes of Saoirse Ronan (The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Elle Fanning (Super 8). Meanwhile, it seems like the role of Storm was always going to be handed off to someone a little less known because the other prime contender was a Disney Channel star named Zendaya Coleman. Anyway, they all join the other new cast member, Oscar Isaac, who is playing the film's title villain. And that's it for the new cast members so far.
There have been rumblings that Channing Tatum will pop up as Gambit in order to set up the forthcoming solo film following the kinetically charged mutant, but that has yet to be confirmed. After all, there's already a big cast of mutants here with the X-Men: First Class cast back in the lead, including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult. Hugh Jackman is also supposed to stick around since he joined the X-Men earlier than in the original trilogy timeline, and Evan Peters is supposed to come back as Quicksilver, a fan favorite from X-Men: Days of Future Past. There's surely more information on the horizon so stay tuned. X-Men: Apocalypse arrives on May 27th, 2016.
Glad Sophie got it. She's perfect for the role.

She LOOKS perfect for the role. Ive never seen her in anything but GOT and that was not nearly the type of person Jean is, but thats why its called acting I guess.

Wow didn't realize how young they were going. Then again, the characters were in their late 30's or so in the 00's in the original trilogy.

More like late 20s. (If you're talking about the original, Two films with Evans, Chiklis, Alba, Ioan Gruffold, and ... doctor doom. Sorry can't remember his name!)

Never heard of any of them, but that's just better, I can't have any doubts about any of them.

Don't know the two playing Storm and Cyclops, but I do recognize Sophie from Game of Thrones. I think she'll play Jean Grey well.

I'm surprised they didn't use Jesse Eisenberg, Miley Cyrus, and Taylor Swift. You know, people we are all sick of that can't act. (I know, TS is not an actor, it's just making a point).

Alexandra Ship played in drumline 2 a new beat. but you'll probably most recognize her from her role of Aaliyah in Lifetimes failed movie. (i like the actress, i dont like the poeple who wrote and made it)

It's all about Apocalypse. Nuff said.

Fingers crossed, Cyclops doesn't get sandbagged like he did in the first trilogy. A powerful, core xmen member from the comics....and treated like a third string character in the movies. It was pretty upsetting.
