Iko Uwais & Cecep Arif Rahman

It sounds like Star Wars: The Force Awakens is going to get a triple dose of Indonesian action, at least if a new rumor is to be believed. Twitch has word that Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman, three of the key players from The Raid 2, the unbelievable action film directed by Gareth Evans, will have roles in Episode VII. However, we have no indication of what characters they'll be playing yet. We're just hoping that since these three are so skilled with fighting and are just insanely fast, that they will be involved in some kind of action sequence. Can you imagine a lightsaber battle with these guys? Read on!

Uwais is the star of The Raid series thus far, and Ruhian has been a pivotal part of both films as well. Meanwhile, Rahman was the final assassin that Uwais had to dispatch with in an incredible kitchen fight (seen above) in The Raid 2 (which is also one of my Top 10 Films of 2014). While it's cool to see that J.J. Abrams got these guys involved in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we wish that they had major roles in the film to amp things up a bit. But if they've been heavily involved in helping out with the action, then we might be in for some awesome fight sequences when the film arrives at the end of the year. Stay tuned.

Let's not make the Boba Fett and Darth Maul mistake and kill these guys off at the end only to realize that fans dug the hell out of them....and my reaction to the news is, Hells Yeah!

Pardon my colorful language...but this movie is pretty much shaping up to be a movie fanboy's wet dream. Many major players from the original trilogy returning. Ford, Hamill, Fisher, Mayhew, Daniels, Kenny Baker, John Williams, Ben Burtt, Lawrence Kasdan, Warwick Davis. Then they get major modern fanboy points for having Andy Serkis of LOTR, King Kong, Apes, and soon Avengers: Age of Ultron playing a role. Gwendoline Christie who is awesome as Brienne of Tarth on Game of Thrones is in the film as well...so you got something for the huge GOT fans to jump onto. Lupita Nyongo from 12 Years a Slave is in the film. So some of the 'critically acclaimed movie snobs' have something to enjoy there. You have fresh young faces with Boyega and Ridley in the cast...Boyega being the first main/lead black character in the saga gets them some cool diversity points. Oscar Isaac from Sucker Punch and Inside Llewyn Davis is on board. Then the legendary Max Von Sydow topping off the whole thing. NOW 3 stars from an action film with such an insanely strong reputation are also in the film? I don't know how much heavier and diverse the 'fanboy cred' of this film could get.
