Watch: Different 'Chappie' UK Trailer Combines Action & Emotion
"Don't let people take away your potential, Chappie." Just after the second US trailer for District 9 director Neill Blomkamp's latest sci-fi endeavor Chappie arrived last week, a new trailer from the United Kingdom has arrived that's completely different. This one actually takes cues from the melodramatic and sappy teaser trailer and mixes them with the more suspenseful, action-oriented tone of the second one. Personally, I'm not sure about this one yet, if only because it seems to tread a lot of the same territory that films like RoboCop, I Robot and more have already walked, and I was hoping for something more. Watch it!
Here's the new UK trailer for Neill Blomkamps' Chappie from Yahoo UK:
You can still watch the second US trailer for Chappie right here.
Every child comes into the world full of promise, and none more so than Chappie: he is gifted, special, a prodigy. Like any child, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings – some good, some bad – and he will rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. But there's one thing that makes Chappie different from anyone else: he is a robot. Chappie is the third film written and directed by South African sci-fi auteur Neill Blomkamp, following up his films Elysium and District 9 previously. The script was co-written by Terri Tatchell, based on Blomkamp's short Tetra Vaal. Filming took place down in South Africa last year, with a cast including rappers Die Antwoord and Hugh Jackman. Sony Pictures has Blomkamp's Chappie set for release starting on March 6th, 2015 next year. Thoughts?

I have such high expectations for this movie.

Sadly, I would try tempering your expectations a bit. I am not saying it will be a mediocre film or a stinker, but so many people can't help but compare this man's films with DISTRICT 9. Sadly, like Jones, Blomkamp may have began with his opus work.

You're right. 🙁

Ok, you had me at Sigourney Weaver

WAY better than the American version. Why can't more trailers be about emotion instead of action?

I dont know how the author got a I,Robot or Robocop vibe from the trailer! Chappie's story looks like none of those. He is neither connected to a central server like the NS-5s, nor is he interfaced with a human brain like Murphy. So, how?
