Watch: 'Furious 7' Featurette on the Film's Insane Skydiving Cars

March 12, 2015

Furious 7

In the extended trailer for Furious 7 and the Super Bowl TV spot from January, we've seen the crazy scene where Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and the crew drive their cars right out of a cargo plane for perhaps the wildest skydiving stunt ever seen on the big screen. And while you would think that something like this would be completely done with visual effects, think again. The crew actually dropped cars from a plane and filmed them with skydivers. This featurette takes a look at how it was done, and it's pretty damn awesome. This sequel is going to be out of control, and hopefully there's plenty more good stuff saved for the movie.

Here's the featurette for the skydiving cars in Furious 7 from YouTube:

And if you can't wait to see more of the action, here's a clip of the sequence in question:

You can still watch the latest Furious 7 trailer right here, plus that wild Super Bowl spot.

Fast & Furious 7 is directed by James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious) and written by Chris Morgan (who has written all the Fast & Furious sequels including and following Tokyo Drift). Though no plot details have been revealed, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker return in the sequel along with most of their crew. Jason Statham is in hot pursuit as the film's villain (brother of Luke Evans' character Shaw) and other new cast members include Tony Jaa, Djimon Housou, Ronda Rousey and Kurt Russell. The film was delayed after Paul Walker died in a car crash before filming ended. Universal Pictures will release Fast & Furious 7 on April 3rd.

That actually looks quite cool, and I'm glad it wasn't all CGI

MAGIC. So glad they went ahead with this after Walker's death. I am pretty psyched. They are starting to advertise here in South Korea and I am constantly happy when I see the posters everywhere.
