Watch: Hugh Grant Charmingly Fails Again in US 'The Rewrite' Trailer

January 23, 2015

The Rewrite

After being a washed up writer for pop tunes in Music and Lyrics, it looks like the perpetually charming Hugh Grant is hitting rock bottom in another part of the entertainment industry. The Rewrite sees Grant playing a former award-winning screenwriter who is now broke, divorced and desperate. So he takes a gig teaching screenwriting at a small town university, and wouldn't you know it, he falls in love with someone there. It's Grant being charmingly befuddled all over again, which some people can't get enough of no matter how many times he does it. And hey, J.K . Simmons has a small role in this one too. Watch below!

Here's the US trailer for Marc Lawrence's The Rewrite from Katrina Wan PR:

You can still watch the previous UK trailer for The Rewrite right here.

Once upon a time, screenwriter Keith Michaels (Hugh Grant) was on top of the world. But 15 years later, he’s divorced, broke, approaching fifty and hasn’t written a hit film in years. Luckily, his agent has a job for him – a university in the quiet town of Binghamton is looking for someone to teach a course in screenwriting. Hoping to give minimal attention to his duties and focus on writing a new script, his attitude slowly begins to turn when he meets Holly (Marisa Tomei), and the pair find themselves connected by their need for a second chance. Marc Lawrence (Music and Lyrics) directs The Rewrite, which also stars J.K. Simmons, Allison Janney and Chris Elliott, and it arrives on VOD and limited theaters on February 13th.

Does Hugh Grant seem a bit of a rapey bell-end in this?

I don't believe it, this guy will sell the one and the same role as long as he lives ... Come on Hugh, it's time to check is there still any place left for you in one of the next 'Expendables' sequels and make some change, huh..? That would be real fun ...
