Just before the year ended, we found out that the next project from the animation masters at Laika would be Kubo and the Two Strings. That film won't arrive until August of 2016, but in the meantime, Laika's most recent film, The Boxtrolls, is hitting Blu-Ray and DVD this month on January 20th. And if you didn't partake in the animated adventure, you're missing out on one of the best family films of the year. So if you need any convincing to check out this film once it's on home video, check out this credits scene from the film that simultaneously uses time-lapsed video to show show it was stop-motion animated. Watch below!
Here's the time-lapsed credits scene from The Boxtrolls originally from Focus Features:
The Boxtrolls are monsters who live below the streets of Cheesebridge, who crawl out of the sewers at night to steal what the townspeople hold most dear: their children and their cheeses. Or so the townspeople have always believed. In truth, the Boxtrolls are a community of lovable oddballs who are raising an abandoned and orphaned human boy named Eggs as one of their own. When the Boxtrolls are targeted by a villainous exterminator who is bent on eradicating them, Eggs must venture aboveground and team with an adventurous young girl to save them. Graham Annable (story artist on ParaNorman) and Anthony Stacchi (co-director of Open Season) directs the film which hits Blu-Ray and DVD on January 20th this month.

Even more impressive when I saw it in the theater. Would make for a great teaser for the next one!

Laika Studios are freaking crazy. To put so much work into a feature film. I think only Studio Ghibli could have competed with their dedication.
