James Cameron Terminator

"It's being very respectful of the first two films… then all of a sudden it just swerves… and now I'm going on a journey." This is pretty much the definitive "James Cameron tells you to go out and see the damn movie" video. I know it's probably nicely edited footage, but seriously, they got James Cameron to talk up Terminator: Genisys! So all you haters pay attention. Thanks to a tip from SlashFilm, a new featurette has launched on Yahoo that has James Cameron basically narrating tons of new footage from Alan Taylor's Terminator: Genisys. I've actually heard the movie is better than we're all expecting. Cameron says this is kind of the third movie in the series, forget Terminator 3 and that other one. Fire it up to hear what he says.

Here's the new featurette with James Cameron talking Terminator: Genisys, originally from Yahoo:

You can still watch the latest trailer or extended UK TV spot for Terminator: Genisys for more footage.

Terminator: Genisys is directed by Alan Taylor ("Game of Thrones," Thor: The Dark World) and written by Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry). Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Byung-hun Lee and Matt Smith all star in the film that takes a completely different approach to the Terminator timeline, finding Sarah Connor orphaned and being raised and trained by an aging T-800 Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) as Kyle Reese (Courtney) is sent back in time from the future again on a new mission. Paramount Pictures & Skydance release the film this summer July 1st.

Hmm....after Cameron suggested using Sam Worthington in T4 I'm really not sure on his opinion on Terminator anymore. However, some of those new clips do show promise.

"However, some of those new clips do show promise." I concur.

Sam Worthington wasn't the problem with Salvation.

Sam Worthington wasn't the ONLY problem with Salvation.

His acting AND his character.

He hated Edward Furlong in T2.

ragethorn on Jun 9, 2015

7

Any reason why ? It was a pity he wasn't used in T3, would of helped, that and making it less camp overall.

Still not interested. Sorry James.

I've been excited to see this from the get go. Didn't need Cameron to sell me on it. I still wish they hadn't given away that Connor was the baddy. Can't we have any surprises in films anymore. It's like if Lucas put the "I am your father" line in a preview for Empire.

That seems to come from the committee's that manage trailers, they think the audience is completely stupid.

They can recreate young Arnold, but they can't recreate young Bill Paxton?!? Horse shit! This franchise needs to BURN.

I'll wager the punks don't swear in this family-friendly version either.

I don't care who they bring on to say this isn't a POS. Just because James Cameron says it's not a POS, doesn't mean it's still not a POS. I'll be amazed if I'm wrong. The acting in the trailer is just atrocious, and it's hardly anything I would claim as "new" or reinvigorated. Plus, SPOILER: John Connor is the bad guy/New terminator/Adversary. I'm sure the good guys win. Ugh, I'll go watch Mad Max again.

Haha well said. Yeah i like a good twist too...ESP WHEN YOU DONT SHOW IT IN THE TRAILER ALREADY!

Well, you can also look up a quote where he calls Terminator 3 great. It is out there. He also initially said fairly nice things about Terminator Salvation. Now he is in 'I consider this the 3rd film' mode. I think this is a combination of Paramount asking/paying him to say good things about the film and him just wanting to do his good friend Arnold a solid.

I tripped over a Terminator sequel the other day and almost broke my neck, these things are everywhere!

Did they just get Xzibit to pimp this Terminator movie?

Carpola on Jun 8, 2015

I'm a sucker for continuity. Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor are iconic roles, and there is just no way I'll be able to watch those people try to play them. I can't watch two hours of that, its too distracting. Also, no Bill Paxton? I can't watch that scene without Bill Paxton.

the latest trailer did ruin it for me but I understand the motive behind it. The buzz was ofcourse very bad, so they had to show the big twist to get people attracted . Maybe there is a another big twist we don't know about! Sarah Connor travels to the future and recreates dinosaurs to battle the machines? 🙂

Really drinking the kool-aid aren't you Alex Billington? Lol come on this gonna be a cash-grab and everyone knows it.

I think the movie has been very unfairly viewed in the public eye. Everyone already said it was going to be bad before the first trailer ever got released. This is partly due to the fact that 3 and Salvation were terrible. I fear this might just kill what could be a great movie. Dredd got very similar treatment.

TK on Jun 9, 2015

27

Personally I disliked it immediately because of casting and their initial marketing, and I think other people were the same. That's their fault, not ours.

OfficialJab on Jun 9, 2015

28

Marketing can kill a movie very true but I will remain open minded because it could very well be a great movie. As for the casting I believe these actors a more than capable of carrying out the roles they have been cast in. There have been quetionable casting choices on other movies that turned out to be a stroke of genius. This could be the same.

TK on Jun 9, 2015

29

I liked 3.

Brian Sleider on Jun 9, 2015

30

Three was far from terrible. It had the courage to end properly and negatively that allowed the timeline to actually happen. It was far, far better than Salvation and featured some great set pieces as well as the best ending of the franchise.

Like I care what he thinks any more.

I WANT IT TO BE GOOD....I just don't think it will be.

This threw me off. I don't know what to think. I'm just a deer in headlights right now.

ragethorn on Jun 9, 2015

I wonder what project he is trying to make with Paramount. I cant believe he was trying to spin spoiling a twist in a movie before the movie even comes out.
