Addicted to Fresno

"Ya'll ready for this?!" Gravitas Ventures has debuted a trailer for the indie comedy Addicted to Fresno, from filmmaker Jamie Babbit (Breaking the Girls, Itty Bitty Titty Committee). This kooky indie stars Judy Greer & Natasha Lyonne as sisters at a hotel in Fresno, California. When one of them accidentally kills a guy, they go to extreme lengths to cover up the crime. The supporting cast includes Aubrey Plaza, Clea DuVall, Allison Tolman, Ron Livingston, Molly Shannon and Fred Armisen. This looks funny at times, but doesn't seem like anything that stands out in a crowd. At least it's nice to see more of Judy Greer.

Here's the official trailer for Jamie Babbit's Addicted to Fresno, found on YouTube (via The Playlist):

Synopsis: Two co-dependent sisters, a recovering sex addict and a lonely lesbian (played by Judy Greer and Natasha Lyonne) who work as hotel maids, go to ludicrous lengths to cover up an accidental crime. Addicted to Fresno, originally just titled Fresno, is directed by filmmaker Jamie Babbit, of Breaking the Girls, Itty Bitty Titty Committee and lots of TV work previously. The screenplay is written by Karey Dornetto. The film first premiered at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. Gravitas Venures will release Babbit's Addicted to Fresno in select theaters starting on October 2nd, as well as VOD starting on September 1st. Interested?

Not half-bad. Fresno is not a good city. But it is still a helluva lot better than MANY other cities in Northern California.

Been to Fresno often, have ya?

I have driven through Fresno many times. I have visited a few times. A few friends went to CSU Fresno. It is a passable city. I would not want to live there.

I live here. I don't recommend it.....

I like them being raunchy. How can you resist such a woman? Looks funny and watchable ...

I see one flaw with this movie....there are approximately 3 too many white, English speaking people in this movie. Good luck seeing that many white people in Frrsno.

And where the hell are you from Rod?

I love dark, offbeat indie comedies, so I knew I was going to be a sucker for this film. I've gotta say I watched this whole thing with a huge smile on my face. Judy Greer is always awesome (although I still can't help but think Kitty Sanchez every time I see her), and Natasha Lyonne was a great choice to play her sister. Add a zany plot, some great music (I loved the use of "Amnesia" by Amaany during the Bat Mitzvah), and an amazing supporting cast and it all adds up to a winner to me.
