"If you call out to one of the dead, all of them can hear you." Coming this summer is Insidious: Chapter 3, the next installment of the trippy horror franchise. But rather than continuing the story we've seen unfold in the first two chapters, this one is a prequel showing the origin of the evil. this time it's Dermot Mulroney and Stefanie Scott as a family haunted by the dead, and the theatrical trailer has just arrived, albeit with a weird tease at the beginning that almost feels like a mistake in editing. What's interesting is that this doesn't seem to deal with The Further, as the spirits are wreaking havoc on the apartment. Watch!
Here's the new trailer for Leigh Whannel's Insidious: Chapter 3 from Focus Features (it works!):
You can also still watch the very first teaser trailer for Insidious: Chapter 3 right here.
Insidious: Chapter 3, is written and directed by Leigh Whannel from a story hatched with producer James Wan, the director of the first two films in the Insidious franchise. A twisted new tale of terror begins for a teenage girl and her family, predating the haunting of the Lambert family in the earlier movies and revealing more mysteries of the otherworldly realm The Further. Dermot Mulroney and Stefanie Scott are new members of the cast with Lin Shaye, Angus Sampson and Leigh Whannel himself reprising their roles from the first two films. Focus Features releases the horror sequel next year on June 5th, 2015. Excited?

What is up with Hollywood today and their love for horror prequels? It seems like every horror film has to get one. The Ring is getting a prequel, Texas Chainsaw is getting yet another prequel, and Insidious is getting a prequel. I also even heard about a prequel to The Shining happening also. This just needs to stop.

Not excited. The first one was great due to the suspense and of all the things we "didn't know"....by the second one we "knew" everything and it wasn't scary at all. The whole "further" concept went from mysterious to corny really fast....
