Gods of Egypt Trailer #2

"My legions of the desert will bring them reckoning!" Ready for more? Lionsgate has unleashed a second trailer for Alex Proyas' Gods of Egypt, the fanciful, colorful action-adventure epic inspired by the classic Egyptian mythological Gods. The first trailer was one of the most interesting trailers we've seen all year, with so much wacky footage of giant CG gods and monsters and bugs and all kinds of crazy shit. This trailer is still filled with the same craziness, but at least it looks a bit better. The cast includes Gerard Butler, Brenton Thwaites, Chadwick Boseman, Elodie Yung, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, plus Rufus Sewell, Abbey Lee, Geoffrey Rush. I'm sure most will say this still looks awful but it does look amusing. Lionsgate even released a note about the casting, but that didn't seem to help much. Give it another shot.

Here's the second official trailer for Alex Proyas' Gods of Egypt, direct from Lionsgate's YouTube:

In this spectacular action-adventure inspired by the classic mythology of Egypt, the survival of mankind hangs in the balance as an unexpected mortal hero Bek (Brenton Thwaites) undertakes a thrilling journey to save the world and rescue his true love. In order to succeed, he must enlist the help of the powerful god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in an unlikely alliance against Set (Gerard Butler), the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. As their breathtaking battle against Set and his henchmen takes them into the afterlife and across the heavens, both god and mortal must pass tests of courage and sacrifice if they hope to prevail in the epic final confrontation. Gods of Egypt is directed by Alex Proyas (of The Crow, Dark City, I Robot, Knowing) from a screenplay by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless. Gods of Egypt arrives on February 26th.

some of the worst CG ever... i guess ill see it

Ryan on Dec 16, 2015

With only 2 months until release a lot of the vfx are probably final. There are definitely some weak shots but there was some great stuff too. Those snakes at the end of the trailer look incredible. This is the problem with effects heavy films, a lot of different fx studios are given shots so not everything is going to look great unfortunately. Can't say it's the worst ever though.

I like it

Jon Odishaw on Dec 16, 2015

I never, EVER thought I'd hear you say that.

dan on Dec 16, 2015

Well I like several Proyas movies, several of the actors and eye popping blockbusters.

Jon Odishaw on Dec 16, 2015

No CGI progress since last trailer...not even worth the bandwidth downloading this movie.

qweqwu on Dec 16, 2015

Looks a bit better (though not much above SyFy channel level) than the first one. At the very least, explains why Set has a hate on for Horus. Though I still don't get why Butler doesn't have red or at least auburn hair.

VAharleywitch on Dec 16, 2015

Looks like some stupid fun, Im sure I will enjoy this.

Higgens on Dec 16, 2015

Let's just hope that Egyptian gods won't rise up and burn us all for this CGI sacrilege ...

shiboleth on Dec 16, 2015

Egyptian god with a Scottish accent. Haaaaa.

Lar Rackell on Dec 16, 2015

I wish I had a dollar every time someone comes to this site to complain about CGI in a movie...........I'd be swimming in greenbacks!

dan on Dec 16, 2015

The CGI here looks flawless.

capitandelespacio on Dec 17, 2015

Clash of the titans: Summer madness in Egypt.

toonfed on Dec 16, 2015

Hahahahaha ...

shiboleth on Dec 17, 2015

This movie is one of those where you either love the hammy stupidity or hate it on an intellectual level. Both are valid. If you think this looks dumb but can buy into the newest X-MAN movie...think about it.

DAVIDPD on Dec 16, 2015

If they'd made this like a Chronicles of Riddick style movie on another planet without the Egyptian stuff, but another civilisation with similar backstory, it may have been better. Maybe they are getting that elusive Ancient Aliens crowd to the cinema.

Carpola on Dec 16, 2015

Looks like a new genre, with two Hercules movies, Clash of The Titans, now this. This is somewhere between 50's Hollywood and Super Hero movies.

capitandelespacio on Dec 17, 2015

No complaints yet on the lack of correct ethnic casting on this one then?

Steven on Dec 17, 2015

It's Hollywood, what did you expected?

capitandelespacio on Dec 17, 2015

There's an earlier post on FS where everyone got into it. I thinknow it's just accepted as a fantasy with Scottish and Danish Egyptian Gods

Carpola on Dec 18, 2015

But wasn't Ridley's Exudes Gods & Kings basically a fantasy?

Steven on Dec 18, 2015

Yep. It's a strange whiting out of history. Hollywood is racist, unless it's profitable of course.

Carpola on Dec 19, 2015

Whiting out of history? They're fcking MOVIES. God you people are whiny fcking idiots. Bunch of sensitive, insecure little punks always have to WHINE and WHINE like sore losers. White people are better than everyone else. Get over it. If we suck so bad, then all the other races can get together and make their own movies and have their own award shows and not cast any white people or invite us to their awards OHHHHH all the other races are too stupid to come up with anything watchable. Makes me sick.

David P. on Mar 2, 2016

Nice one. I love you man.

Carpola on Mar 3, 2016

I've actually viewed it now, it was hilarious. Hope you're feeling better David.

Carpola on Mar 3, 2016

My favorite part was how all the white women in ancient egypt had huge boobs and lots of cleavage but I agree with Lagoya coulda used a little more CGI. But ultimately really glad they chose an all white cast because its just really hard for me to connect with anyone who looks differently from me.

jay on Dec 17, 2015

Happen to know any of their names?

David P. on Mar 2, 2016

Looks like fun. P.S. I think it's funny when people complain a movie isn't ethnically correct, but have a picture of a white Jesus at home.

Bill on Dec 18, 2015

Who has a White Jesus? Do you? I've never worshipped a White man.

slowestJ'canIndeWorld on Jan 20, 2016

No you just use his medicine and technology unappreciatively.

David P. on Mar 2, 2016

NOPE! Maybe catch on TV one day if there's nothing better on. Still think the all white cast in Africa looks ridiculous!

Tobi on Dec 18, 2015

Who cares...

David P. on Mar 2, 2016

Honestly, does this not look like a 3rd ClashWrath of Titans flick?
