Watch: Full US Trailer for France's Coming of Age Drama 'Girlhood'
Hot on the heels of Boyhood winning the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Drama, another festival favorite is releasing a timely domestic trailer. Bande de Filles is a French film that is being called Girlhood in the United States (though the title translates to Group of Girls) and it follows a young girl living in the suburbs of Paris who ends up getting involved with a tight-knit group of girlfriends whose peer-pressure ends up leading to her life of dangerous drug-dealing. The film played to Cannes and has gotten some pretty great reviews, and now the US trailer has arrived to hype the coming of age tale. Watch!
Here's the US trailer for Celine Sciamma's Girlhood, originally from Apple:

Girlhood is written and directed by Celine Sciamma (Tomboy, Water Lillies). Karidja Toure plays Marieme, a shy sixteen-year-old who falls in with a small crew of friends after low grades prevent her from continuing her studies. This foursome soon forms a tight unit bent on pushing the limits. In the face of peer pressure and the need to be cool, Marieme finds herself navigating dangerous waters. But it isn't long before she finds a way to assert her own voice and a new-found sense of power. The film has played at Cannes and TIFF last year, hits Sundance this month and Strand Releasing sends it to limited theaters on January 30th.
Ugh...why can't kids learn from movies and life that this shit never works out...
