David Oyelowo & Rosamund Pike in US Trailer for 'A United Kingdom'
"I will never achieve anything worthwhile if I leave my heart here…" Fox Searchlight has debuted a new official US trailer for the romantic drama A United Kingdom, which premiered to positive reviews out of TIFF a few months ago. The film tells the true story of Seretse Khama, the king of Bechuanaland (modern Botswana), and Ruth Williams, the London office worker he married in 1948 in the face of fierce opposition from their families and their governments. David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike star as the couple. The cast also includes Tom Felton, Laura Carmichael, Jack Davenport, Charlotte Hope, and Jessica Oyelowo. This film, along with Jeff Nichols' Loving, are two films that show the power of love and how it transcends race and class and other barriers of society. I'm still looking forward to catching this film myself.
Here's the official US trailer (+ poster) for Amma Asante's A United Kingdom, direct from YouTube:
The film tells the incredible true story of Seretse Khama, King of Bechuanaland (modern Botswana), and Ruth Williams, the London office worker he married in 1948 in the face of fierce opposition from their families and the British and South African governments. Seretse and Ruth defied family, apartheid and empire - their love triumphed over every obstacle flung in their path and in so doing they transformed their nation and inspired the world. A United Kingdom is directed by English actress-filmmaker Amma Asante, of the films Belle and A Way of Life previously. The screenplay is written by Guy Hibbert. The film will premiered at the Toronto and London Film Festivals, and opened in UK cinemas in November this year. Fox Searchlight will open A United Kingdom in US theaters starting February 17th, 2017 early next year.

Like already said, it reminds on Loving. But then again, there are so many love stories between people of the same race. And nobody is having deja vu about them. So, it's a love story. If it's good, it's worth of watch ...
