"What goes up, must come… down." 20th Century Fox has released a very epic new TV spot for the Super Bowl for Roland Emmerich's Independence Day: Resurgence, the return of the Independence Day story. With only 30 seconds to spare, this spot focuses mostly on epic destruction of various cities and the arrival of whatever massive back-up destroyer the aliens have sent this time. The main cast features: Jeff Goldblum back as David Levinson, Jessie Usher as Dylan Hiller, Liam Hemsworth as Jake Morrison; plus there's a glimpse of Bill Pullman as President Whitmore. In terms of the "holy sh*t" factor and grabbing our attention, this spot is one of the winners. This looks crazy fun, I'm definitely hooked I'll admit.

Independence Day 2 is being once again directed by Roland Emmerich. As for returning cast members – Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner and recently confirmed Bill Pullman and Judd Hirsch will all be back as their characters from the first film. William Fichtner and Maika Monroe are new additions. The sequel is supposed to take place 20 years after the events of the first film, which will be real time, almost to the day, from when the original was released. Emmerich is directing again with a script that he co-wrote with Dean Devlin and James Vanderbilt. 20th Century Fox currently has Independence Day: Resurgence scheduled to land in theaters June 24th, 2016 this summer. Watch the first full trailer here. Thoughts?

So is the black guy gonna turn out to be will smiths son following in his fathers footsteps?

It can't be, the actor isn't Jaden Smith, so I'm sure Will wouldn't allow his in movie son not to be his real life son too.

The character is the son, and iirc Vivica Fox reprises her role as Will Smith's character's wife.

I remember seeing a "making of" featurette on the original Independence Day. They actually built tiny replicas of the White House and other famous buildings and blew them up with actual explosives....I have a feeling that every effect in this movie was "shot" on someone's desktop.
