First Trailer for Indian Sex Comedy 'Brahman Naman' from Sundance
"At least she spoke to you face-to-face." Netflix has unveiled a trailer for a film called Brahman Naman, an indie coming-of-age sex comedy set in the 80's in India. Actor Shashank Arora plays Naman, a witty, nerdy kid at Bangalore University who spends most of his time on the quizzing circuit with his two friends Ajay and Ramu, played by Tanmay Dhanania and Chaitanya Varad. The three of them want nothing more than to lose their virginity and try their hardest to make it happen. This looks kooky and hilarious, and seems to be a refreshingly unique take on the typical coming-of-age comedy. And it's in English. Have fun!
Here's the first official trailer for Qaushiq Mukherjee's Brahman Naman, direct from Netflix's YouTube:
Brahman Naman is a comedy film set in the 80's and revolves around the misadventures of Naman and his friends in their quest to lose their virginity. Brahman Naman is directed by Indian filmmaker Qaushiq Mukherjee, of the films Ludo, Tasher Desh, Gandu, Bishh, and Love in India previously. The screenplay is written by Naman Ramachandran. This first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and will also play at the upcoming Edinburgh Film Festival. Netflix acquired the film for release earlier in the year. Netflix will release Brahman Naman on the streaming service starting July 7th later this summer. Anyone interested?

I like the characters. Looks quite daft.

Nice. Looks tonally quite similar to some of the early Rogen produced stuff.

I don't want to be a party breaker here, but India is one of those countries with worst rate of rape crimes against women. In context of that, I don't know what to think of this. Of course, this looks funny and entertaining, but it is also a bit hypocritical in the middle of that rape state of affairs...
