Valerian

In production now is Luc Besson's biggest sci-fi epic since The Fifth Element and I am crazy, crazy excited for it. I don't know if it's going to be any good, but I'm just really happy that Luc Besson is making another big, huge sci-fi space opera movie. Valerian, originally titled in full Valérian and the City of a Thousand Planets, stars Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne (seen below) as time-traveling agents investigating a galactic empire. Besson started filming in January and has been posting photos every day to his Instagram. They're shooting for 115 days in total, with 420 crew members working on the production in France (via Instagram). None of these photos are major reveals, but I love that filmmakers are open to sharing images while they're in the middle of making a move. It's exciting to get a glimpse of the process. Take a look below.

Starting at the beginning of filming - here's some of the Valerian Instagram shots from @lucbesson so far:

In Luc Besson's Valerian, DeHaan and Delevingne will play the iconic characters Valerian and Laureline. Besson will write and direct the film. Virginie Besson Silla will produce on behalf of EuropaCorp which will finance, produce and distribute the film. Valerian, which has influenced generations of Sci-Fi writers and directors, was created by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres in 1967 and has since sold over 10 million copies in 21 languages. Production is currently underway in Paris, France with a global release slated for summer 2017. Description from Amazon: "Valerian and his partner, Laureline, are agents for the vast Galaxity organization. In the past their missions have taken them to all corners of the galaxy and through time as well. But now Galaxity is gone, and Valerian and Laureline are dependent upon their meager remaining resources and their ingenuity." Stay tuned for more updates and follow @lucbesson for the latest.

That ought to be a fun production. DeHaan and Cara Delevingne are quite the talented twosome.

Uhm wrong casting of de haan as valerian. But if somebody knows the comics very good let me know what you think. He looks no way near the comic book character.
