The Jungle Book

Oh it's the bear necessities, the simple bear necessities… Disney has completed a tryptich series of posters to unveil a wide promo banner for The Jungle Book, a CG/live-action hybrid directed by Jon Favreau. The poster shows Mowgli, played by Neel Sethi, in the middle sitting in front of Baloo the bear, voiced by Bill Murray. The poster also includes most of his animal friends, like Bagheera, Kaa, Raksha and a ferocious Shere Khan, voiced by Idris Elba. The more we see of this movie, the more interested I am, it remarkably looks pretty dang good so far. Hopefully we'll see more footage soon. Take a look at the full poster below.

The Jungle Book is directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Cowboys & Aliens, Elf, Zathura, Made) and written by Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li), based on Rudyard Kipling's classic book of the same name. The film follows a young boy named Mowgli, a man-cub raised in the jungle by a family of wolves, who embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery when he’s forced to abandon the only home he’s ever known. Ben Kingsley, Lupita Nyong'o, Christopher Walken, Idris Elba, Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray voice the animal characters. Disney will release The Jungle Book in theaters on April 15th, 2016.

Look, this is one of the few classics Im all for a remake of, and all the footage so far looks beautiful, but is it just me or does it look like they sucked all the fun out of it?? Everything is so grim and dire and desaturated. Can we just have a little fun with this one?

Well...does Bill Murray singing Bear Necessities count as fun? I know it ain't in the promo stuff, but they said they were gonna have some musical stuff in it, so who knows?

I'd like to see some fun too, but I'm still really excited about this.
