Kubo and the Two Strings

Laika can do no wrong when it comes to stop-motion animation, and their latest project, the epic adventure Kubo and the Two Strings, is no exception. This looks like the animation studio's most impressive achievement yet, and the latest trailer will astound you when you remember that this movie is carefully crafted frame-by-frame. The story sees young Kubo setting off on a journey to learn about his samurai father's mysterious past, encountering dangerous mythical creatures and more. Matthew McConaughey and Charlize Theron accompany him as a loyal warrior and a talking monkey, respectively. Watch below!

Here's the second official trailer for Laika's Kubo and the Two Strings, direct from YouTube:

In the epic fantasy, scruffy, kindhearted Kubo ekes out a humble living while devotedly caring for his mother in their sleepy shoreside village. It is a quiet existence – until a spirit from the past catches up with him to enforce an age-old vendetta. Suddenly on the run from gods and monsters, Kubo's chance for survival rests on finding the magical suit of armor once worn by his fallen father, the greatest samurai the world has ever known. Summoning courage, Kubo embarks on a thrilling odyssey as he faces his family’s history, navigates the elements, and bravely fights for the earth and the stars. Kubo and the Two Strings is directed by animation producer Travis Knight, who produced ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls for Laika previously, now making his feature directing debut. The screenplay was written by Marc Haimes and Chris Butler. Focus Features will release Kubo and the Two Strings starting on August 19th, 2016 this summer.

This looks amazing! However...I would like Laika to try it's hand at some more "adult" fare. Not porn mind you, just something with a story that would delve into the PG-13 or R rated territory. Like if Tarantino made a stop motion movie....THAT would be cool. Oh! And have it be fantasy or science-fiction related....THAT would be REALLY cool....
