"They destroyed our home!" Now this is must watch short film. There's a new unofficial Star Wars fan film available to watch online made by a filmmaker named Joe Sill that is about a father and daughter. It's one of the first fan films inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens (so far) that really captures the spirit of that movie, specifically how amazing Daisy Ridley's character Rey is. In this film, Andra Nechita stars as Kara, and there's a really big reveal with her near the end that makes this even more exciting. To top it off, this has impressive technical aspects including outstanding VFX work (X-Wings, Tie Fighters galore!) and tons of futuristic action that actually feels real. I'm so impressed I had to watch it twice. Give it a look.
Director Joe Sill explains his idea behind this (via Yahoo): "I grew up on the idea that Star Wars really was family-driven," said Sill, who makes commercials for a living, including work for Disney, Nickelodeon, and Google. "So I kind of wanted to tell a bit of that story. Parent and child are always split apart in Star Wars, so I wondered, if you’re going to tell a story of essentially splitting apart and coming together, why not tell a story of a father and daughter who are together?" Credits from Vimeo - Kara was written & directed by Joe Sill, produced by Westin Ray, and stars Andra Nechita, Peter Arpesella, Daniela Flynn. It was made by Sill and about 20 others from a small production company called Whitelist Production - for info visit their site.

Nicely done. Like he said, it's nice to have that family story. Kara's acting reallly sold that imo.

Hey, where'd they get Master Chief's bubble shield? Seriously though that was fairly well done. Although that wasn't much of a reveal since they hinted at it right off the bat. Nice little story.

Not impressed. Looked like an FMV from the old Rebel Assault games.

Or, you know...come up with an original idea that doesn't require emulating expensive effects...

Pretty cool. I wonder if Disney would let little shorts pop in front of the full-length features? They would be pretty cool.

Anyone else notice the volume of the dialogue was too low? Or was that just me?

Nope, the audio mix was not done properly. Why nobody caught that is inexcusable. They need to pull this down, redo the audio immediately. At least do it for everyone involved. The product has to be right.
