Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk Trailer

"Your story, Billy, no longer belongs to you." Sony Pictures has unveiled the first official trailer for Ang Lee's adaptation of the book Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, which is an emotional story of a soldier recounting his days in the Iraq war. Ang Lee shot this in 120FPS and in 3D, but this trailer is only in 2D at regular framerates (because right now most people still hate HFR). Joe Alwyn stars as Billy Lynn, and the cast includes Kristen Stewart, Vin Diesel, Garrett Hedlund, Steve Martin, Chris Tucker and many others. As good as this looks, I have to say - I probably wouldn't be that into this if it weren't for Ang Lee, as I trust him quite a bit. Also - seeing Vin Diesel in this reminds me of Saving Private Ryan, in a good way.

Here's the first official trailer for Ang Lee's Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, from YouTube:

An infantryman recounts the final hours before he and his fellow soldiers return to Iraq. Also starring Ben Platt, Tim Blake Nelson, Makenzie Leigh, Beau Knapp. Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk is directed by veteran Oscar-winning Taiwanese filmmaker Ang Lee, of Sense and Sensibility, The Ice Storm, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Brokeback Mountain, Lust Caution, Taking Woodstock and Life of Pi previously. The screenplay is written by Jean-Christophe Castelli, adapted from Ben Fountain's very popular novel of the same name. This was filmed at 120FPS in 3D, but we're not sure of exact release plans. Sony Pictures will open Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk in theaters everywhere starting November 11th, 2016 this fall.

Looks like a Michael Bay propaganda stuff mixed with a Miley Cyrus tour with a pinch of romance.

It must be bizarre going away and doing the things that guy did, to come back to the strange spectacle of a halftime show. A tacky abstract garish spectacle. The colours look amazing though and the flashbacks seem intense and hyperreal. Will hopefully see it at some point.

Dear Hollywood, please stop butching classic songs with the slow mo covers! Thanks, humanity

You don't know shit. This beautiful rendition of Bowie's Heroes is from the Scala & Kolacny Brothers and it fit perfectly for this trailer. Other renditions including the original would not have been appropriate for this trailer edition.

Ang Lee, Steve Martin and Vin Diesel in one movie. Somebody should make a documentary (or mockumentary, right) of how did this happen. And, besides, what happened with Ang Lee who made Ice Storm or Lust, Caution? I miss that guy ...

Did you even know this movie is based on a "SATIRE" novel?

Max Rockatansky on May 13, 2016

No. But it better be a satire. I really like mocking patriotism. Which means that I so hope your invective will prove right which will restore some of my faith in Ang Lee's film making.

I will be curious to see how my veteran friends like this movie. So far they have not been impressed with any modern war movie, Hollywood has produced.

Especially this sh*tty 13 hours.

Interesting. My experience has been the opposite with many of them enjoying American Sniper, Generation Kill, Taking Chance, Zero Dark Thirty, and The Hurt Locker to name a few.

I also trust Ang Lee - he should pull this off well, and the trailer was promising! 😀
