Godzilla Resurgence Trailer

"What are we up against?" Wow! Want to get a glimpse at just how epic and gnarly the new Godzilla from Japan is? A new international trailer from the Philippines has arrived online featuring tons of extra footage of the giant lizard monster attacking and destroying cities in Godzilla Resurgence, or Shin Godzilla. We posted the full Japanese trailer for this a few months ago and it finally showed Godzilla in all his glory, but this trailer shows off even more of his deadly abilities, including some crazy destructive lasers coming out of his back. Starring Jun Kunimura, Shin'ya Tsukamoto, Satomi Ishihara and Hiroki Hasegawa. This definitely has a cheesy side to it, but I feel like it's going to be so much fun to watch. Maybe? We'll see.

Here's the new international trailer (from the Philippines) for Toho's Godzilla Resurgence, on YouTube:

You can still see the first two teasers for Godzilla: Resurgence here or here, plus the full Japanese trailer.

It was originally reported that Toho Company is working on a new Godzilla movie of their own (separate from Gareth Edwards' most recent Hollywood version and the impending Godzilla vs King Kong fight) and it began shooting last summer, for release July 2016. Adding to that, this most recent report says that the story will take place in Japan (of course), and that it will be the "largest Godzilla ever" and he would be destroying cities all over Japan. Godzilla: Resurgence is being co-directed by Japanese filmmaking legends Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi (known for his visual effects for the Gamera trilogy). The screenplay is credited to Hideaki Anno. According to the original poster, Godzilla: Resurgence arrives in theaters in Japan starting July 29th this summer. We're still not sure of an exact US release date.

Did i hear T-Rex? Awesome trailer

Paddy McManus on Aug 15, 2016

I think it is T. rex that sounds like Godzilla.

DAVIDPD on Aug 15, 2016

It cannot be more worse than Garret Edward's godzilla or independence day resurgence, both should be a lesson in overuse of cgi crap and bad screenplays..

ari smulders on Aug 15, 2016

Godzilla was dope. Its ridiculous to say that was a horrible movie.

Snowmanfloza on Aug 15, 2016

Naw, movie was trash. Lead by a poor actor, with lame a plot and short on the tilte monster.

Higgens on Aug 15, 2016

Fact Checker Poor lead - 50% TRUE (Crasnton owned the first 1/2) Lame Plot- TRUE (Of every monster movie. Its a MONSTER movie!) Short on Monster - FALSE (Classic build up with great payoff in the end.) Definitely not trash. It was fine.

Mark on Aug 15, 2016

Cranston was NOT the lead, so its 100% accurate. I can give you the plot, it is, after all just the plate with which the monster is served. Short on monster is 100% accurate, even during the final fight they cut to the humans doing w/e stupid shit they were doing more often than the monster. This trailer had more steady shots of the title beast than the whole of Edwards vehicle. Acted poorly, slow and plodding, short on monster action. It was a lame ass Godzilla movie.

Higgens on Aug 15, 2016

The build-up was great. But I love a good slow burn.

grimjob on Aug 15, 2016

I agree with you on the lead but nothing else. And even then I don't think he was THAT bad.

Jon Odishaw on Aug 16, 2016

OH come one, he was like, a card board cut out.

Higgens on Aug 16, 2016

I'm with you. Enjoyed the hell out of it.

To me, Edward's Godzilla was interesting film. As someone said, slow burner but nice payoff on the end. Besides, I liked the symbolic of nuclear power as a food for spores. Not bad on my account ...

shiboleth on Aug 15, 2016

It sucked big time shiboleth but i must admit i just can't stand Brian Cranston. It went totally of the chart with cgi and and loud noises and no connection with the actors.

ari smulders on Aug 16, 2016

Well Ari, it did not work everyone, what is there to say. As for Bryan Cranston, I don't know what to say. In time, you come across many different actors or actresses and some make you like them and some not. I stopped to think of them since they are not real persons to me. Or, even when I find out something more personal about them I mostly start disliking them and that has no sense since I will never (quite possibly) have any personal contact with them. So, I let them be and watch for the quality of film for which I hope will deliver. Cheers Ari ...

shiboleth on Aug 16, 2016

He annoys me, but hey everyone his own flavor... Cheers!

ari smulders on Aug 16, 2016

My friend in Japan said is was glorious and rang true to the Toho classics.

DAVIDPD on Aug 15, 2016

I'm so glad they kept the roar. It's iconic.

grimjob on Aug 15, 2016

I cant see the trailer because its not in HD. My eyes can only perceive HD.

Snowmanfloza on Aug 15, 2016

I wish it was in HD! Would be awesome.

Alex Billington on Aug 15, 2016

A mix of Clover field, Transformers 3 and 4.

Бабак on Aug 15, 2016

LoL, more Godzilla action in that trailer than in the shitty Edwards version. Cant wait.

Higgens on Aug 15, 2016

This looks awesome! The lasers out of his back are a little weird, but it's ok, I can accept that.

grimjob on Aug 15, 2016

Great trailer... I'm really looking forward to this. I had hoped to see it in Taiwan, but it wasn't going to hit the theater until I left.

Bill on Aug 15, 2016

Why is Godzilla mean? And those confusing laser beams? Funny indeed ...

shiboleth on Aug 15, 2016

Video was removed.... sad face
