Warcraft TV Spot

"Enemies will unite. Worlds will collide." Legendary has debuted the first official TV spot for the upcoming Warcraft movie (even though we already posted an international TV spot previously) based on the World of Warcraft games. Duncan Jones (of Moon, Source Code) directs this massive fantasy epic, involving a giant battle between Orcs and Humans, starring Travis Fimmel, Robert Kazinsky, Ben Foster, Paula Patton & Dominic Cooper. The more we see of this as we get closer to release, the better it looks, the rendering of the Orcs is actually starting to get to the level of Avatar. Take a closer look at the footage in this. Don't give up hope yet! This is still a Duncan Jones movie, and I expect it to be entertaining at the very least. Enjoy!

Here's the first official 30-second TV spot for Duncan Jones' Warcraft, direct from Legendary:

You can still see the first full trailer for Duncan Jones' Warcraft here, with more footage on the way.

As for the story in Warcraft, it will follow Anduin Lothar facing off against Durotan, the two human and orc heroes from the original real-time strategy games, before World of Warcraft was even created. The film will largely focus on the Eastern Kingdoms of Azeroth. Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures present Warcraft, a 3D epic adventure of world-colliding conflict directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code), written by Charles Leavitt and rewritten by Duncan Jones. Produced by Charles Roven, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Alex Gartner. The cast: Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Toby Kebbell, Rob Kazinsky, Dominic Cooper, Daniel Wu and Clancy Brown. Universal will release Warcraft starting June 10th, 2016.

Glad he's doing the original and not WoW, it may have been a bit more recognizable but much more convoluted

BNN667 on Jan 25, 2016

I play WoW daily and have been playing for 11 years, before that I played Warcraft. That said, this looks like trash.

Higgens on Jan 25, 2016

I'm sure the RiffTrax version of this will be fantastic!

Brandon Moss on Jan 25, 2016

When they ran into budget problems, Duncan Jones went to Universal Pictures and said, "We need more gold".... "It will be done," replied the executives ominously.

TheOct8pus on Jan 25, 2016

Why can't they do a Diablo movie instead? I enjoyed playing Warcraft and Starcraft, both good story lines, but I feel like Diablo would make for the best movie, just my opinion though.

Justin R on Jan 25, 2016

Because Duncan is a long time fan of Warcraft.

Jshadow on Jan 26, 2016

Flop incoming.

capitandelespacio on Jan 25, 2016

Says the simpletons.

Hodorin on Jan 26, 2016

Hey, more respect! I´ve said the same thing about Jurassic World. You are welcome.

capitandelespacio on Jan 26, 2016

What about TFA? Why does it get a free pass eventhough it's just retelling of New Hope?

Jshadow on Jan 26, 2016

Wait. We are just speculating about this movies success or bomb at the box office. Not comparing it with TFA at all.

capitandelespacio on Jan 26, 2016

One is speculation, another is trying to make it a fact based on a few seconds of cut clips, without seeing it in full.

Jshadow on Jan 26, 2016

A few terrible seconds of over the top CGI nonsense....does not make want to see it in full.

TheOct8pus on Jan 26, 2016

Nor would a tv spot of any other movie.

Jshadow on Jan 26, 2016

Completely false. The Force Awakens generated so much buzz (not to mention, memes, parodies, Youtube videos etc.) based on a very vague trailer and 2-3 vague lines of dialogue.... Both Avengers movies did the same. People saw bits and pieces of scenes with snippets of dialogue out of context (also known as a movie trailer) and went bananas. Everybody and their grandma wanted to go see those films...this does not elicit the same reaction from people. I'm a huge fan of the Warcraft Games, and I love Duncan Jones's movies...but this is a mess. I think you're being optimistic here...and there's nothing wrong with that.

TheOct8pus on Jan 26, 2016

Ye, but you have to look at it like this. TFA was already known to be a Star Wars movie and it has huge world wide following, with people waiting for years to see it again. With Avangers, it was all of the previous Marvel movies (some good, some bad) put together and people liked them for a good reason and had the same reason to be excited by it. Warcraft on the other hand is a fresh movie with no past whatsoever outside of gaming media and what people know about it is a MMORPG and all the negative things that came with it. Which is why it irks me that people trashtalk and say it's gonna auto fail, going as far as to say that CGI looks bad, eventhough the visuals are being done by the same people behind the Avangers and that was ALL CGI. In the end how movie will be rated will be based on both visuals and story, and Blizzard has give Duncan full support.

Jshadow on Jan 26, 2016

I'll watch it, looks properly weird, but I'll give it a go.

Carpola on Jan 25, 2016

Duncan is very talented but i just dont know why he choose this genre or this film. Will still see it because i liked moon and Source code was excellent.

Sascha Dikiciyan on Jan 25, 2016

Moon was amazing. I think this movie was supposed to be his "big break" into mega budget Hollywood blockbusters....it's looking like another Josh Trank F4 situation....which is sad, because Jones is far better than Trank IMO

TheOct8pus on Jan 26, 2016

Can I use my mouse and keyboard to play this game or do I still need my xbox controller ?

Tester on Jan 25, 2016

Ehhh...the worm is turning for me. I was initially pretty excited by the prospect, but it is looking pretty sad. I want to believe!

DAVIDPD on Jan 25, 2016

This will bomb....

ari smulders on Jan 26, 2016

Come back here and 5 months and find out that your dumb prediction was wrong.

Hodorin on Jan 26, 2016

I hope you'll do the same if you are wrong though.

Snev De la Fontaine on Jan 26, 2016

yes of course, and you can remind me of it. No prob.

ari smulders on Jan 26, 2016

I will remind you... in your sleep.

capitandelespacio on Jan 26, 2016

Than i will say exactly the same and you congratulate me. It's looks very bad and the cgi is of the lowest level..

ari smulders on Jan 26, 2016

Well, jokes aside, name 1 video game movie which was a moderate hit.

capitandelespacio on Jan 26, 2016

I'm with Agent Smulders on this one....

TheOct8pus on Jan 26, 2016

Hey, I said that before it was cool!

capitandelespacio on Jan 26, 2016

Wow, the CGI wackness in this is crazy to me. After the realness and sets of the new Star Wars this looks even worse.

Snowmanfloza on Jan 26, 2016

I feel the same way about this that I do about BvS. They set up the enormous two-sided conflict and are selling it out before the movie is even released. "We need to stop fighting and work together" is a fine moral lesson I guess, but removes all the stakes of your conflict, especially when I already know that's what the resolution is. Guess they can still pull the rug out from that ending in the finished film, but I doubt it.

OfficialJab on Jan 26, 2016

"BvS"? Big Vagina Syndrome?

capitandelespacio on Jan 26, 2016

Well said. As you say, in BvS they've already shown the face-off and then moved onto them working together along with Wonder Woman against the bigger unifying threat. Hence all the tension, atmosphere and 'edge' has been removed because you know they'll be bonding soon enough. And this is the same. Though they've yet to reveal the terrifying enemy that will bring us together. On a side note, does anyone consider the Orcs physical size and dominance over the humans, makes the battles seem a little one sided? They are showing the Orcs as sensitive intellects but I assume they must be pretty stupid in battle otherwise they'd just roll over the scrawny humans.

Payne by name on Jan 26, 2016

The shaman has some brains, and the main warlord or two. Most orcs (if they're using the game-stats as a starting point) are fairly dumb & only respect brawn.

VAharleywitch on Jan 28, 2016

The CGI is certainly coming along. I think it looks good as it is trying to keep in style with the games. The story is what will make or break this movie. Warcraft has such a rich story that I am optimistic about this one. I am going to hold out judgement until the actual movie is released but I'm excited to see it.
