Masterminds Trailer

"How hard can it be? You load up a truck, and you drive away." Relativity has debuted a new 2016 trailer for the comedy Masterminds, from the director of Napoleon Dynamite - Jared Hess. Most will remember hearing about this before, as it was originally scheduled to be released last year, and we even ran two trailers for it (which were removed) before Relativity pulled it from the schedule. It's now set to open in theaters this fall - though I'm not sure if any new marketing will help. Zach Galifianakis & Kristen Wiig star as a couple who plan a heist that goes right, and they end up with $17 million with their friends Owen Wilson, Ken Marino and Devin Ratray. But once they get the money, things start to fall apart. Jason Sudeikis, Leslie Jones & Kate McKinnon also star. This is supposed to be funny in a stupid way, but it looks dull.

Here's the new 2016 trailer for Jared Hess' Masterminds, direct from Relativity's YouTube:

Masterminds Poster

Masterminds is directed by Jared Hess (of Napoleon Dynamite, Gentlemen Broncos, Nacho Libre) and written by Danny McBride & Jody Hill ("Eastbound & Down") and Chris Bowman & Hubbel Palmer ("Napoleon Dynamite" animated series). David Ghantt (Galifianakis), along with his flirtatious co-worker (Wiig) and a group of half-brained criminals led by Steve Chambers (Wilson), somehow pull of a $17 million heist. The only problem is he foolishly hands the money over to this wild group of double crossers and has been set up to take the fall. But now it's time to turn the tables again. This comedy was originally scheduled for release in August of 2015, but was delayed completely until this year. Relativity will now be releasing Masterminds in theaters on September 30th this fall, if anyone is still curious to see it. Who's interested?

Kristen Wiig might be the only reason to watch this. Although, it does look like it could be a really painful experience so that's still not definite decision ...

Adam Sandler will do a cameo, right? because this "thing" has a strong Adam Sandler vibe.

The McBride/Hill guys made this? It should be a lot better, but it will surprise like SPY did a couple years ago.

It'll go right next to Tower Heist in my DVD collection.

This is directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre, and the VERY underrated Gentleman Broncos) and it being delayed a year does not bode well. I like the cast, and the director....but that trailer SUCKED. Redbox/cable for this poor soul.
