"Love your enemies. God is love." Paramount has debuted a new trailer + a new featurette for the upcoming remake of the classic Ben-Hur, about the story of Judah Ben-Hur. The first trailer back in March made this look like a rather epic CGI-filled upgrade, but this trailer adds some more humanity into the mix. Jack Huston stars as Judah Ben-Hur, with a huge ensemble cast featuring Nazanin Boniadi, Ayelet Zurer, Sofia Black-D'Elia, Haluk Bilginer, Pilou Asbæk, Marwan Kenzari, Rodrigo Santoro, Moises Arias, Toby Kebbell and Morgan Freeman. This is a very powerful trailer that includes many poignant moments from the story, and looks better than I was initially expecting. But I'm still not so sure about this.
Here's the second official trailer + featurette for Timur Bekmambetov's Ben-Hur, from Uni's YouTube:
Ben-Hur is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston of "Boardwalk Empire"), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption. This new Ben-Hur is directed by Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov, of The Arena, Night Watch and Day Watch, Wanted and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The adaptation by Keith R. Clarke & John Ridley of Lew Wallace's original novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, also stars Morgan Freeman and Rodrigo Santoro (300). Paramount will release Ben-Hur late this summer on August 19th this summer. Anyone interested?

The first trailer didn't grab me at all. But this one showed me they're doing a different take on the involvement of Jesus in the story (as opposed to the Heston version), which might be worth checking out. Still skeptical this will be good, but now willing to give it a chance.

Haven't seen the original, didn't really care for the first trailer and I'm not religious but this one looks good. Probably not opening night good, but late show on a 1/2 price Tuesday- absolutely.

Curious... what does your religious beliefs, or lack of, have to do with your decision to watch this movie ?

A movie with Jesus as a character? Obviously that's going to appeal to some who are big Jesus fans.

in all honesty this doesn't look so bad! Ben hur the original is on my top ten list, so the stakes are high for this movie.

Same here Ari. Absolutely in my top 10 as well. I've loved Ben Hur since I was a little kid so I'm very hesitant to see this remake. The trailer does look pretty good and I like that Christ's story seems to be more prominent which apparently is closer to the original book. I'm cautiously optimistic about this.

What's with the rubbish music. Should of kept it orchestral only and along the lines of Gladiator. The action and shots look epic enough, but the music lets it all down.

Utter laughable crap.. terrible music selection, too long, terrible acting, how much was Freeman paid to wear that wig and the standard shitty CGI

Will they fill the stadium with water and do a ship battle? I hope.

This goes in category called never wanna see it. Come on people, why does it have to be so base? Why aren't you trying to make something new?
