A Solo Journey to Raise Awareness in 'A Peloton of One' Doc Trailer

"We haven't done a very good job of keeping our kids' safe." Global Digital Releasing has unveiled a trailer for a documentary film titled A Peloton of One, finally opening in theaters and on VOD this winter. The film first premiered back in 2020 at a festival and has been awaiting a release ever since then. A Peloton of One is a doc that follows the journey of Dave Ohlmuller as he cycles alone, from Chicago, IL to Montclair, NJ – around 700 miles in total – in order to raise awareness about childhood sexual abuse. The filmmakers explain why they wanted to tell his story: "A 'peloton' is a cycling term that simply means a group of riders. But Dave Ohlmuller started his journey as a peloton of one. Like so many sexual abuse victims, he believed he was alone in his despair. At the end of this journey, he realized he is now part of a much greater whole, a true Peloton of One, dedicated to helping the millions of Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse in the country and across the globe." This as well as the doc Procession are the kind of important films that'll change lives.

In the fall of 2018, Dave Ohlmuller set out on a sprawling solo bicycle ride from Chicago to New York. Sexually abused at 12 years old by a priest in his New Jersey parish, Dave Ohlmuller rode to inspire other Survivors to come forward and tell their own stories, as well as educate the masses (and himself) on the impacts of this scourge. Along this 700-mile journey, Dave also meets other Survivors abused by coaches, teachers, family members, and similar to Dave himself, Catholic priests. Through these interactions and common stories, Dave tries to find a way to connect and heal, mile by mile, as he heads back east towards his childhood home. A Peloton of One is co-directed by the doc filmmakers John Bernardo & Steven E. Mallorca (Slow Jam King), both making their very first documentary film. This initially premiered at the 2020 Greenwich Film Festival a few years back. Global Digital will debut A Peloton of One in select theaters (LA only) starting February 18th, and out on VOD on March 11th, 2022. Stop by the film's official site.
