The complete list of nominees for the 94th Academy Awards, the most prestigious award in Hollywood, have been announced today (from Oscars.org). The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the nominees via live broadcast. The nominations from 2021 are, as usual, an exciting and intriguing set of nominees with plenty of surprises and expected picks - including Drive My Car from Japan, the animated documentary Flee, and Spielberg's West Side Story sneaking in. Jane Campion's excellent The Power of the Dog has a total of 12 nominations, and Denis Villeneuve's Dune has a total of 10 nominations - the two clear frontrunners out of all of the films from last year. Did you enjoy them, too? The Academy chose a total of ten Best Picture nominees from 2021, including: CODA (this makes me so happy!), Belfast, Nightmare Alley, West Side Story, Dune, and Drive My Car. Without further ado, check out the full list of nominations.
The 94th Academy Awards ceremony will be on Sunday, March 27th at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood - where they've often been before. No host or details have been announced yet. Here are 2021's nominations:

Congratulations to all of this year's nominees. We're back to the usual picks with The Academy that are both obvious and expected (including Belfast and Being the Ricardos being exactly the kind of films voters love) and entirely unexpected and surprising (with noms all over the place for Drive My Car and Flee, barley any for House of Gucci, etc). I'm extremely happy to see so many nominations for both Dune and The Power of the Dog - two of the best films of 2021 that deserve awards. And I'm also pleased to see The Lost Daughter end up with six nominations! I didn't even think anyone would watch this movie or like it as much as I did. I'm happy that Kristen Stewart got in, but I don't mind that Lady Gaga didn't get a nom - lots of critics seem upset about this. But she was fine. My biggest complaint is - why didn't Denis Villeneuve get a Best Director nom for Dune? He definitely deserves it, especially with all the other nomns for Dune. I'm sure there will be plenty of major discussion/complaints as is the norm. So what do you think of these nominations for 2021?
