"It's my job to make you pick up the hammer!" 1091 Pictures has revealed an official trailer for a horror film titled Student Body, marking the feature directorial debut of actress / filmmaker Lee Ann Kurr. It hasn't played at any festivals, but this will be out in February for anyone curious. A distressing incident compels childhood best friends Jane & Merritt (Montse Hernandez & Cheyenne Haynes) to take action against their high school math teacher, driving their splintered relationship into further disruption and provoking deadly consequences. In addition to Hernandez & Haynes, this also stars Christian Camargo, Anthony Keyvan, Harley Quinn Smith, Austin Zajur, Ty Trumbo, Maurice Hall, and Suehyla El-Attar. It looks like another boring masked-killer high school slasher flick, without much of anything new to offer us.
Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Lee Ann Kurr's Student Body, direct from 1091's YouTube:
High school student Jane Shipley (Montse Hernandez) seeks to mend her splintering relationship with childhood best friend Merritt (Cheyenne Haynes), and fit in with her rebellious peers. When Jane's math teacher oversteps his bounds, the apathetic high school administration's lack of response forces Jane and Merritt to take matters into their own hands, driving their relationship into further turmoil and inciting deadly consequences. Student Body is both written and directed by the actor-turned-filmmaker Lee Ann Kurr, making her feature directorial debut with this project, after directing episodes of "Wonder" for TV previously. It's produced by Lee Ann Kurr, Sandra Leviton, and Rachel Liu. 1091 Pictures will debut Student Body in select US theaters + on VOD starting February 8th, 2022. Interested in this high school horror?
