Dune Trailer

"The unknown and the unbelievable meet." It's time for the US release of Dune this week! To celebrate the opening, Nerdist has launched a fun "remix" trailer that recreates this new Dune movie in the style of David Lynch's infamous 80s flop. Everyone knows that Lynch also brought Dune to the big screen in 1984, but the movie kind of sucks and it has been mostly forgotten (until now). Set in the distant future, the story in Dune about the son of a noble family entrusted with the protection of the most valuable asset and most vital element in the galaxy - the planet Arrakis, the only place in the galaxy where they can find "the spice". This new adaptation of the epic sci-fi stars Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, with Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, plus Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem. I love how perfectly they captured the vibe of the Lynch Dune movie, and the style of trailers from the 80s. This makes me want to go watch Dune again! And again!

Dune Final Trailer

"There is no call that we do not answer, there is no faith that we do not betray." Warner Bros has debuted a third & final official trailer for Denis Villeneuve's epic adaption of Dune, based on the classic sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert. Even though this has already been open in Europe for the last two weeks, it's not opening in the US for another two more weeks. But it's WORTH IT! Don't miss watching this on the big screen. Set in the distant future, the story is about the son of a noble family entrusted with the protection of the most valuable asset and most vital element in the galaxy - the planet Arrakis, the only place in the galaxy where they can find "the spice". This epic sci-fi adventure stars Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, featuring a massive ensemble: Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem. This is THE blockbuster event of the year, in my opinion, an epic sci-fi experience that will leave you in awe. One of the best movies of 2021.

Dune Trailer

"Dreams make good stories… But everything important happens when we're awake." Warner Bros has dropped the second official trailer for Denis Villeneuve's epic adaption of Dune, based on the classic sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert. The first trailer debuted last fall, and we've been impatiently waiting to see more ever since. Set in the distant future, the story is about the son of a noble family entrusted with the protection of the most valuable asset and most vital element in the galaxy - the planet Arrakis, the only place in the galaxy where they can find "the spice". This movie stars Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, featuring a massive ensemble cast: Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem. I am ALL IN for this! Everything about it looks like it's going to be as grand & glorious as we're hoping. Unleash the sandworms!!

Dune Drifter Trailer

"There's something else down here with me." 4Digital Media has released an official trailer for an indie sci-fi survival thriller titled Dune Drifter, from genre filmmaker Marc Price (Colin, Magpie, Nightshooters, A Fistful of Lead). This originally premiered at FrightFest in London earlier this year, and also played at the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival. The logo on the poster is obviously trying to connect to Dune (which has since been delayed from its date in December) even though the plot of this has absolutely nothing to do with Dune. After a devastating orbital space battle, the survivor of a crashed star-fighter must navigate the harsh environment of a desolate planet to save herself before her life support expires. Starring Phoebe Sparrow as the sole survivor, Adler, with an indie cast including Daisy Aitkens, Simon Dwyer-Thomas, Alastair Kirton, Richard Corgan, Marcus Shakesheff, and Charlotte Mounter. This looks pretty damn good, and thankfully the trailer doesn't give away too much. Might be a worthwhile indie discovery. Check it out.

Dune Movie Trailer

"You have proven you can rule yourself, now you must learn to rule others." Warner Bros has revealed the first official trailer for Denis Villeneuve's new adaption of Dune, based on the classic sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert. Set in the distant future, the story is about the son of a noble family entrusted with the protection of the most valuable asset and most vital element in the galaxy - the planet Arrakis, the only place in the galaxy where they can find "the spice". It was turned into a movie once before by David Lynch in 1984, and was made into a Sci-Fi Channel mini-series in 2000. This new version stars Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, featuring a massive ensemble cast: Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem. WB teased this trailer with a teaser playing in front of Tenet, but this is the moment we've all been waiting for - and it's an exhilarating first look. I am loving how massively epic and thrilling this looks. Let the spice flow.

Jodorowsky's Dune

Just after yet another awesome poster hit the web over a week ago for the festival favorite documentary Jodorowsky's Dune, the first trailer has arrived, giving us a glimpse into the film about the sci-fi adaptation that never came to be. The film has played at a slew of big festivals like Cannes, Toronto and Fantastic Fest, and it's not hard to see why. This looks like a truly fascinating look into a project that would have featured Mick Jagger, David Carradine, Salvador Dali, Orson Welles and more people you would never expect. Just Jodorowsky's enthusiasm makes me sad this never fully came together. See below!

Jodorowsky's Dune Trailer

"For me [it] was not to make a picture, [but] something deeper, something sacred, something free, with new perspective." Okay, so this isn't necessarily a trailer, but it's essentially a trailer and is worth watching anyway. Following the news earlier in the week that a documentary called Jodorowsky's Dune, about the filmmaker's attempt to adapt the sci-fi novel, was officially in the works, Twitch has posted a promo clip featuring Alejandro Jodorowsky talking about it and it's pretty awesome to see. I just love the way this builds with him speaking and the way it ends. Now I'm even more excited to see the doc. Check it out below!

Yes, It's Real - Official Trailer for 'Amityville in Space' Horror Movie

Amityville in Space Trailer

"A giant black hole, a strange craft, and a derelict humanoid in suspended animation?" Wild Eye Releasing has unveiled one more "final" trailer for the wacky new horror sci-fi film Amityville in Space, which yes is a real thing. The Amityville name is now in public domain and filmmakers ahve been slapping onto every junk Amityville creation they can come up with, so inevitably it would one day lead to "in Space" and, now, here it is. From the same filmmaker that recently brought us Sharkula, if you want an idea of how bad this is going to look. So here's the pitch: the ultimate battle against the Amityville curse begins after the infamous murder house is exorcised from Earth and reappears in outer space in Amityville in Space Starring Titus Himmelberger, Cassandra Hayes, Tim Hatch, Ryan Dalton, and Jeff Kirkendall. This one looks absolutely terrible in a, maybe it's fun to watch, kind of weird way? You must check it out for yourself below.

First Trailer for No Budget Horror, Trash Movie Spectacular 'Sharkula'

Sharkula Trailer

"I saw a giant shark with glowing red eyes in the water! What is it?!" Wild Eye Releasing has unveiled an official trailer for a no budget, trash horror film creation called Sharkula, by filmmaker Mark Polonia who makes nothing but D-movies every year. They've made Sharknado, Exorcist Shark, Jurassic Shark, Shark Encounters of the Third Kind, Virus Shark, so it seems this is next up on the shark + horror mashup. The curse of Count Dracula lives on in shark infested waters, claiming the lives of a tourist community. A sea hunt for the new species results in monsters, madness and bloodshed. Oh my. This Great White is "putting the bite back into terror," with the aid of vampires intent on seeing it survive. Starring Jeff Kirkendall as "Dracula", with Kyle Rappaport, Jamie Morgan, Natalie Himmelberger, James Kelly, and Titus Himmelberger. It looks absolutely terrible, but I think that's the point. Chomping beaches this summer.

Batman And Me Trailer

"I have to have it… purely because this is what I do." Freestyle Digital Media has unveiled an official US trailer for a documentary film titled Batman And Me, originally from Australia, arriving on VOD starting this March. Perfectly timed with the release of Matt Reeves' new Batman movie The Batman next week. This is the super-geek story you're probably afraid to hear about! "I didn't want to do it. I knew it would become a monster." When Darren Maxwell began collecting Batman merchandise in 1989, obsession quickly gave way to addiction. Decades later, Darren struggles to let go of the beast he created. Today, an entire room in Darren's house is occupied by his Batman collection - a situation he's not entirely comfortable with. Batman And Me takes a hard look at his situation and the wider pop culture climate, wondering: Why do we collect? What does it mean to us? Can a collection become an identity? These are good questions! I need to see this.

Alex's Top 10 Favorite Films of 2021

"The mystery of life isn't a problem to solve, but a reality to experience." Another year, another Top 10. After watching over 460 films throughout 2021 (yes I was keeping track on Letterboxd!) it's time to share my final selection of My Top 10 Favorite Films of 2021. I try to watch as much as I can and give myself time to catch up with any extra films at the end of the year, but I also want to make sure I don't forget about some of my favorites from earlier in the year. 2021 was an invigorating and exciting year - with so many ups and downs. But as always, I'm lucky to have a chance to discover terrific films. this year in cinema took us on journeys to far away places, distant planets, as well as to mountaintops and valleys and deserts around this planet. I'm a sucker for visuals and style; the better a movie looks, the more I enjoy it. But I also need to feel the emotions, and when a good one really gets to me, that's the kind of film that sticks with me all year.

Trailer for 'Nightshooters' British Action Comedy About Filmmakers

Nightshooters Trailer

"If they saw any of that, boss, we could be in the sh*t." Playing at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival this year is a British indie action comedy film titled Nightshooters, which originally premiered in 2018 at the Raindance Film Festival. It already opened in the UK years ago, but still has never been released anywhere else yet. The film is described as an "action thriller about a group of filmmakers who find themselves on the run from a violent horde of criminals after witnessing a brutal gangland execution." The hapless film crew must use their technical skill and cinematic knowledge to defend themselves. The stunt man is a martial arts master, the special effects guru sets lethal traps, and the sound department strategically lay radio mics to detect when the hoodlums are on their way. It's supposedly a mix of The Raid and Snatch, which sounds like a lot of fun to watch. Hopefully. The cast includes Adam McNab, Nicky Evans, Rosanna Hoult, Jean-Paul Ly, Richard Sandling, Kaitlyn Riordan, Mica Proctor, Nicholas Aaron, Ben Shafik, Doug Allen. From the same director of the Dune Drifter film. It does look dumb, but might still be entertaining.
