First up, Deadline reports Jay Baruchel will star alongside Robert Pattinson in David Cronenberg's adaptation of Don DeLillo's novel Cosmopolis. While Pattinson plays a financial wiz kid who puts his life in danger by betting his entire fortune against the yen on a tumultous day, Baruchel plays the shy guy who founded the company, and acts as the trader's conscience. Samantha Morton, Paul Giamatti, Juliette Binoche, Mathieu Amalric also star.

Casting Tidbits: Mae Whitman, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Vanilla Ice

First up, Variety reports Mae Whitman, one of the seven evil-exes from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World has just landed a role in the big screen adaptation of the Stephen Chbosky's fantastic book The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The coming-of-age indie already has Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) and Emma Watson (the Harry Potter franchise) set to lead the film about a shy and unpopular high school student who writes a series of letters to an anonymous penpal. Whitman will play a tattooed vegetarian and Lerman's girlfriend.

First up, Variety reports Mexican actor/singer Diego Boneta has landed the lead role of aspiring rocker Drew Boley in Adam Shankman's big screen adaptation of the musical Rock of Ages. The director said, "I wanted to bring somebody… who felt literally like he came from 1987." Meanwhile, The Wrap reports Russell Brand is closing his deal to star.

I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then, one day…I got in. First up, Deadline has word that Benicio del Toro has joined Oliver Stone's adaptation of Don Winslow's novel Savages. The story follows a love triangle between two marijuana growers (Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch) and a beautiful female accomplice, but things get complicated when drug cartel thugs (including del Toro) kidnap and hold her for ransom.

Well, maybe you're right, thanks. First up, Variety reports Alan Tudyk (A Knight's Tale, "Firefly") has joined the cast of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's novel of the same name. Tudyk will play Stephen A. Douglas, the Northern Democratic Party candidate for president who ends up losing to Lincoln. Robin McLeavy also recent signed up to play Lincoln's mother in the twisted historical adaptation.

The Casting Tidbits: John Hawkes, Christina Hendricks & Will Forte

Well, I wouldn't argue that it wasn't a no-holds-barred, adrenaline-fueled thrill ride. But there is no way you can perpetrate that amount of carnage and Casting Tidbits and not incur a considerable amount of paperwork. First up, Variety reports John Hawkes (Winter's Bone) will star in the indie drama Surrogate. Based on the life of poet and journalist Mark O'Brien, the story follows the man as he decides to explore his sexuality after spending most of his life with an iron lung after struggling with polio. He hires a sex surrogate and soon develops a relationship that changes both of their lives. Yep, sounds like your standard indie drama to me.

Casting Tidbits: Brendan Fraser, Michelle Rodriguez & Hayley Atwell

We are Sex Bob-Omb and we are here to make you think about Casting Tidbits and get sad and stuff! First up, Variety reports Brendan Fraser will star in the heist comedy Whole Lotta Sole from director Terry George (Hotel Rwanda). Thomas Gallagher also wrote the script with the director which follows a young man robbing a fish shop in order to pay off a gambling debt. But of course the heist goes terribly with humorous results and turns into a hostage situation. Fraser will portray the shopkeeper, who's on the run from his gangster father-in-law. Well, I guess anything is better than another piece of junk like Furry Vengeance hitting theaters.

First up, Variety reports singer and dancer Julianne Hough and R&B artist Mary J. Blige have joined the adaptation of the Broadway musical Rock of Ages. The two join Tom Cruise in the story of a couple that meets at the Sunset Strip club Rock of Ages, falls in love and tries to stay together while living the rock life. Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand and Gwyneth Paltrow have also been mentioned for parts, but they have not yet been confirmed to star.

First up, THR reports Malin Akerman (Watchmen) will join Nicolas Cage in the action thriller Medallion. Directed by Simon West (Con-Air) the story shares elements with Taken as a father and former master thief has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab. Akerman will play Cage's ex-girlfriend and former bank robber who tries to help him find his daughter.

Listen, not a year goes by, not a year, that I don't hear about some Casting Tidbits accident involving some bastard kid which could have easily been avoided had some parent - I don't care which one - but some parent conditioned him to fear and respect those Casting Tidbits. First up, back in October, nearly the entire cast of How to Train Your Dragon was confirmed to be returning for the sequel which will see release sometime in 2013. However, at the time, Gerard Butler wasn't named to be returning. Well Empire has confirmed the actor will indeed be reprising his role as Hiccup's beefy, bearded father Stoick the Vast.

The film will mark the directorial debut of Tron Legacy writers Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal (who also wrote the script) and follows a writer (Cooper) who, at the peak of his literary success, discovers the price he must pay for stealing another man's work.

First, The Wrap has news on several actors joining Daniel Espinosa's thriller Safe House, starring Ryan Reynolds as a CIA agent who has to protect a criminal (Denzel Washington) and get him safely to Washington after their safe house is attacked. Brendan Gleeson (In Bruges), Liam Cunningham (Clash of the Titans), Robert Patrick (Walk the Line) and Sam Shepard (Black Hawk Down) have all landed roles in the film. Read on!
