Beware. Two gorgeous new posters for Guillermo del Toro's upcoming gothic horror Crimson Peak have been unveiled by Mondo at Comic-Con. Last week we featured a new set of character posters from Crimson Peak, now we have even more gorgeous dark red artwork to get you in the mood for the new original horror from Guillermo del Toro. (Thanks to SlashFilm on the tip.) Both of these posters are outstanding, and really seem to capture the feel of the ornate, creepy, gothic atmosphere in the film. The dude missing half his head is really the perfect creeper to invite you to come see a Guillermo del Toro ghost movie. View in full below.
Everyone's Getting Smoked. I am really, really digging the marketing materials for this movie - American Ultra, the upcoming "stoner Jason Bourne" comedy arriving this August. Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart star as a pot-loving couple in a small town whose lives are thrown into disarray when government agents show up to eliminate Eisenberg. The first trailer looks hilarious, but the posters have been absolutely perfect - the right mix of stoner-inspired wackiness, with Eisenberg/Stewart zaniness, without any terribly Photoshopped floating heads. Nice. With Comic-Con 2015 taking place this week, Lionsgate has unveiled another fantastic poster along with a comic book cover for a comic that apparently has a key role in the film.
This is awesome…! Calling all Deadpool fans! This is your chance to get a rare, one-of-a-kind sketch of your favorite Merc with a Mouth. Comic book artist/writer Rob Liefeld, one of the creators with Fabian Nicieza of the Deadpool character, is an outspoken social media user. With Comic-Con 2015 about to kick off, and the Deadpool movie starring Ryan Reynolds likely making its debut on Saturday, Liefeld will use social media for a giveaway of Deadpool sketches he has drawn. You can see some images of the art on his Instagram already, or at SlashFilm where they announced details. They'll be hidden everywhere at the Con.
Meet the new DC superheroes (and villains). Next week it's Comic-Con 2015, the annual convention in San Diego where thousands of comic book/pop culture geeks of all kind converge. Entertainment Weekly has published their annual preview piece, and that means revealing some new photos from movies we expect to show up at Comic-Con in Hall H. Warner Bros has a big panel on Saturday morning, and we expect Zack Snyder to bring lots of never-before-seen footage from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It's DC's chance to pull the spotlight away from Marvel for a bit. The photos show Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. See them below.
It's that time of year again, a few weeks early this year. The San Diego Comic-Con is back in early July, a few weeks than it normally is, and that means it's time to get excited with the programming line-up. The full list of Comic-Con 2015 panels was announced on their website day-by-day. You can also organize you own schedule here. I've highlighted a few of the panels that are related to movies that we're planning to cover here on FS.net, and you'll find an abridged list of only specific film-related panels below. There are a solid amount of unique smaller panels this year, from VFX to location scouts to The Martian author Andy Weir.
Marvel Studios has been the king of Comic-Con for years now, pretty much ever since the Marvel cinematic universe was announced to lead up to The Avengers. However, now that the blockbusters franchises have been established and fans are pretty much on board with whatever they churn out, it sounds like they're going to reduce their presence at the huge convention, starting this year. On his Facebook page, when asked about attending Comic-Con this summer, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn said, "I'm not sure. Marvel isn't going so I'm not sure I will either." Wait, Marvel isn't going to Comic-Con?
