The House Trailer

"You have to nourish the soul of the house." Netflix has revealed the trailer for The House, an anthology series of stories all set inside one house. "A house and the surreal tales of three generations of families who made it their home." Made by the animation production house Nexus Studios, and featuring stories directed by filmmakers of acclaimed animated shorts including This Magnificent Cake! and The Burden. The House is an eccentric dark comedy about a house and the three surreal tales of the individuals who made it their home. An anthology directed by the leading voices in independent stop motion animation: Emma de Swaef and Marc Roels, Niki Lindroth von Bahr and Paloma Baeza and produced by Nexus Studios. The first story is set in the 1800s, the next in present day, and final in the "near future" about a landlady trying to restore the crumbling old house as it floats on. With a huge voice cast: Mia Goth, Matthew Goode, Claudie Blakley, Mark Heap, Joshua McGuire, Stephanie Cole, Miranda Richardson, Jarvis Cocker, Sven Wollter, Yvonne Lombard, Bimini Bon Boulash, Susan Wokoma, Helena Bonham-Carter, Paul Kaye, and Will Sharpe. Enjoy.

The X-Files

The X-Files had a film open in theaters in 1998 while the show was still running, and its disappointing follow-up X-Files: I Want to Believe came to theaters in 2008, six years after the series' end. Despite some underwhelming box office numbers for the second film, franchise star David Duchovny wants to keep things going and continue the adventures of Mulder and Scully on the big screen. In an interview with Collider about his indie film Goats (out in theaters today), Duchovny spoke a bit about the reasons the second movie didn't fare so well at the box office and how he'd love to return to make another film. Kermit the Frog Press Conference

There were plenty of videos we featured throughout the lead-up to the release of The Muppets in theaters last November. However, everyone's favorite Jim Henson creations are back, but this time they mean business. After the film hit the box office and please most critics and audiences alike, a bit of an eyebrow-raising report came from Fox News claiming that the film was trying to brainwash kids into being against capitalism, oil companies and generally forcing a liberal agenda down their throats. Disney and the filmmakers remained quiet, but now there's finally a response from their fearless leader Kermit the Frog.

Sacha Baron Cohen's New 'Goat' Project Lands at Paramount

Sacha Baron Cohen

This is definitely one of the oddest Hollywood stories I've heard recently. Apparently Paramount sent live goats to Sacha Baron Cohen and the offices of his talent agency yesterday in hopes of convincing them to let them pick up the new project that Cohen's shopping around. Deadline has a lowdown on the incident and some info on the project. Although they don't mention a title, it's a comedy where Cohen plays two different original characters we've never seen before: a goat herder and a deposed foreign dictator who gets lost in the United States. To add some more intrigue, it's "in the spirit of Coming To America meets Trading Places."

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jamie Bell, Colin Firth

Casting Tidbits phone home! First up, THR reports Jeffrey Dean Morgan has signed on to star in the Michael Bassett directed psychological thriller The Unblinking Eye. The script (which was also written by Bassett) has homicide detective John Callisto (Morgan), now a retired recluse after being nearly murdered by a serial killer, being tracked down by a relentless journalist. As the two confront each other, dark secrets from both their pasts come to light. Maybe the journalist is the serial killer, or son of the serial killer, or he's been dead the whole time! Or he's planning to reboot the same movie within the movie itself. Read on!

Joe Penhall - John Hillcoat - Venice Film Festival

Director John Hillcoat (right above), who also directed The Proposition, and screenwriter Joe Penhall (left above) recently showcased their bleak vision of the post-apocalyptic future in their adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's best-selling novel The Road which had a screening at the Telluride Film Festival (read Alex's review). But the future for Hillcoat and Penhall looks to be ripe with opportunity, which is great news for both.  One new project has Penhall in talks with Daniel Craig to star in a remake of the 1973 Gaelic heist film La Bonne Annee, which follows a recently released prisoner's plan to rob jewelers in Cannes.

Concept Art Sketches of Carl from Pixar's Up

Fellow Pixar fanboy Peter of SlashFilm came across some wonderful concept art sketches on display at an exhibit at Walt Disney Studios (via IMDb). As we already know, Pixar's latest film Up is about a grumpy old man named Carl who floats down to South America in his house. There's a great sequence at the beginning of the film that follows Carl from when he is a kid until he becomes the grumpy old man, and you get to see him throughout all ages of his life. For those who haven't seen that sequence, this is your chance to see what Carl looks like over the years. Beyond that, these are just incredible sketches and amazing to see anyway.

Interview: Chiwetel Ejiofor on Redbelt, Serenity, and Watchmen

Chiwetel Ejiofor

If you haven't heard of Chiwetel Ejiofor, then please take a moment to get acquainted with him. He is one of the finest actors working today and always exciting to see on screen. Calling him an up-and-comer is an understatement - he's already a phenomenal actor who has been in quite a bit, you just haven't come to memorize his name and his face yet, but you will soon enough. I honestly first was introduced to Ejiofor in Serenity, but have since become an enormous fan and follower of all of his work. This summer he stars in David Mamet's Redbelt, a drama about a Ju-Jitsu instructor. A few weeks back I had the chance to interview Ejiofor and it was definitely a defining moment for me.
